In Flash CS3 the default script timeout can be changed. As a quick fix you can try increasing it, but it would be best to break up the data download as much as possible.

Yes, the devs know of this issue and they're working on a fix for it ASAP.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR EXISTING SUBSCRIBERS USING STATION LAUNCHER

Alright, the exact specifics of the Station Launcher "update" to your files even though you've already got the game is coming clearer.

It creates new versions of a lot of the existing game files.

If you've done things like me, which are to go and create your own hotkeys and things, you'll need to backup your current options.cfg (and if you use it useropts file) which are found in your main game directory.

More details will come through about things like this as the devs get more feedback, so keep it coming.

I decided to show the problem myself and my friend are having by showing the flow of action in screenshot form.

These have been reduced in scale for speed but you can still clearly make out what is happening;
  1. Station Login
  2. Station Game Choices
  3. New Station Window when Selecting Any MMO not just MxO
  4. New Login Prompt
  5. Script Error
  6. End Result
I hope this helps those who require assistance.

Okay well I downloaded and tried this today, and it was nice to know what my 'friends' I used to play with do now, however when I've been through 30+ different character names, and many of them having an extensive friends list, which have many duplicates, it can get extreamly slow.

Something I do like, was that someone I aint spoke too for 2years, said "Hello, haha long time no see" and it spoke through the character that he had me down on his buddy list, nice feature, however its the thing that makes this extreamly tedious to use at the moment.

Also I get the following prompts every so often, I take it, it is still trying to load from their database or whatnot.
"A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run your computer may become unrepsonsive. Do you wish to abort this script 'Yes' 'No'"

Okay to share my experiances even more, the friends UI, now freezes up 100%, cant scroll up and down, change the tabs up the top or nout. Is it possible to have had too many friends that it breaks the launcher?

Although I am very much looking forward to the ease of free trials for all SOE MMOs and very much looking forward to chatting out-of-game with everyone in-and-out of game, I will wait to adopt this until I am forced to.  Why?  Because I have 1650 people on my Friends' list and I sincerely hope I don't have to wait up to an hour or more for the lists to load every time I want to play MxO!  They need to fix this before the official release.  If they try that "you'll have to thin out your list" approach there will be big trouble.  SOE: If you want to play, you'll have to ditch your friends.  Not going to happen.

I've noticed these issues using the station launcher :

1. If i jack out using the jack out thingy (which makes you wait and you appear as static), the next time you log on using the station launcher you will not be at that place you jacked out on, but at the latest hardline youve used.
2. If i exit the matrix using the loading area X button or by right clicking a hardline, then clicking exit, the station launcher will bypass the loading area and i will appear ingame at the latest hardline ive used.

So the station launcher somehow makes the game always skip loading area at game start, and directly goes to the latest hardline you have used (not the nearest one either, once i ran across town and jacked out on the other end, but still appeared at the last hardline ive USED)

Not using the station launcher, everything works the way it should be.

That's the same behaviour as using the normal MxO launcher but with your username specified in the shortcut (i.e. "C:\The Matrix Online\launcher.exe" -user myUsername -pwd myPassword -char Procurator ).

Was there somewhere in the Station launcher where you specified your character? I've yet to try the Station launcher myself, so I don't know.

The fact that you appear at the last used hardline instead of where you typed /jackout (if you did use that option) is an issue with MxO, and one I've complained about before.

How does the CLIENT have an effect on where you spawn ? Shouldn't this be serverside ?

Doing the user pwd char is not the same to what the station launcher is doing, using usr pwd char will actualy show your username and password being typed out, and perform the authentication, with the launcher it doesn't do that.

In the station launcher you only log using your station user and pass, you choose the character after you launched mxo (same as normal)

Well, all the launcher is doing is telling MxO how you're logging in. MxO then makes the decision as to whether to drop you in the loading area, your last hardline or where you typed /jackout.

All I was saying is that the behaviour you described (viz. appearing at a hardline despite using /jackout) is what happens when you use the -char option. The Station launcher must be doing whatever the MxO launcher does to tell the game to dump you at a hardline, but the MxO launcher itself is still making you select the character.

It's just SOE faffing about. *Shrug.*
