Just re-watching the dvd and I have a question. What was Alfred's deal when he was in the jungle bribing tribal leaders? I've never read anything about him doing anything like this in any comics.

In the comics they never really go into detail when it comes to Alfred's history, but they hint at a great number of things, for example, apprently he use to work for the queen of england. Now, you obviously gravitate towards him being a butler at Buckingham Palace or somthing similar, but you could also take that idea and say, shouldnt someone who works so close to the queen have some sort of special training? Perhaps even military training? So they tend to leave alfred's history a bit of a mystery as to keep his abilites at a wide range of belivablility.

Now in the Batman:All Star comic series written by Frank Miller, Frank pretty much comes right out and says that Alfred used to be in the British Secret Service, and that explains pretty much everything right there. But that is the All Star series, which is very much like Marvel's Ultimate universe in which they take the same characters and wright them in a tottaly differnt timeline and tweak things here and there as to create new storys without affecting the original comic's canon.

Cool. Thanks for the replies on that. I didn't know about Iron Man and his butler at all. The movie is really my first Iron Man experience.

So what do you guys think about part 3? They say they didn't hint to a 3rd but they totally did.

I think its going to be a tough act to follow, but if the Nolan team sticks to it, it will still be great. I have plently of Ideas that I think would make a great movie in the Christopher Nolan fasion, but then I dont know jack about wrighting a movie. I just hope they dont take the easy rout and do the Riddler and Catwoman like most poeple on the net are blabbing about. And if they do use Catwoman it better not be Angelina Jolie.

I would prefer a story with Bane (if done right) and Talia (Raz al Ghul's daughter) as a kind of a nice tie up to the 3 movies.

Quick Idea:

Cops are still crooked in Gotham, Batman is a "criminal" and there is a new mobster coming in to fill the void whom is short and squaty in stature . But batman is still out there fighting the good fight. Cops want him down, mob wants him down, so the bad cops work with the mob. However thats not enough, so this new mob boss I mentioned, whom also has a thing for birds in of south america and other parts of the southern hemispher , hires a south american hit man who goes by the name of Bane.

Batman can't take bane down alone. Luckly there is this mysterious woman who has a thing for batman, and is a deadly asassin aswell. Batman doesnt like her methods, but does like her, and doesnt know why until it is later revealed that it is infact Talia, Ras's daughter.

Perhaps even bring back Liam Neeson for some flasback scenes with the daughter you never saw in the 1st film.

I think the Bane idea works well because it takes Batman at an already uneasy and dismal point and breaks him completely; again, if done right like you said.

Well, that sounds delightful. Last I heard, Bale had signed on for 3, but Nolan hadn't yet. Any word on that?

I really would NOT like to see a Riddler, even if Johnny Depp does another standout performance, just because the riddler shouts 'campy'.

One thing I loved about TDK was Batman going overseas. I would love to see more of that, a little more of that, in the next movie, like the South American Prison, the Asian gang that was headed up by the king Snake from the first Robin miniseries or even more of League of Shadows and Talia. With the mob in shambles, it wouldn't be too bad to have a turf war between these gangs and the power struggle up the line. That Russian guy could bring in KGBeast: the possibilities are endless and all look good under Nolan's direction.

I also agree about Angelina not being Catwoman. She is too much tabloid meterial and that would only taint the series. The last thing I want to see is Brad carrying babies around the set and get some set photos of her and Brad talking about Jen Aniston. Give me a break!

Last I heard. Riddler will be in the next film. Eddy Murphy will be taking that role. This comes from a radio source. As well as cat woman. Cant remember the details tbh. I can only hope it will be as good as the 2nd one. Which totally blew my mind away.

To me Riddler could be done in a great way.  It would be near impossible to follow up to The Dark Knight.  It was a great film but Ledgers death just made it legendary with his preformance as The Joker.  While another film would most likely come abouts, I highly doubt it would do as well or come close to The Dark Knight.  The reason would be would be Heaths death. While sad, It would still cast a stigma on the film.  People hoping for gold and getting copper.  I am not a big DC fan so I cant say who would fit as a better villain.  I do like the Idea of Bane though.  Just my thoughts.

Oh Eddy Murphy would be like nipples on the bat suits AKA a series killer.

Nightwing maybe, Robin no... But you can't just slap Nightwing in there without him being Robin 1st. My opinion at most maybe have D i c k (o m f g filter wont let you type the name d!ck) Grayson taken in by Batman, but never have him in the film as an actual sidekick. Nolan's films are grounded to realism, and give a kid, or young guy, without the extensive training background as Bruce Wayne is not realistic. Not to mention Bruce Wayne recently adopts a kid, then All the sudden Batman is running around with a little side kick, in the real world people would put 2 and 2 together.

If you added  D i c k  Grayson, perhaps have the film end on the note that maybe someday he actually would fight side by side with batman, but way down the road.

I have not heard much on that. But I have heard that Bale said, he would be game for a 3rd film AS LONG AS Nolan is doing it as well. So lets hope we're both right. And lets hope Michale Cain doesnt die (he is getting old)

I read that, too, so I am keeping my fingers, toes and unmentionables crossed that Nolan's sign-on is being kept secret.

Also, I wouldn't mind Batman's/ Bruse Wayne's contact with a boy (like when he gave the boy the goggles in pt 1) that is inferred as Robin, but just for those reasons mentioned above about realism, I would really hate to see Robin in the movie. Some things don't translate to film well.

And I don't know about Eddie Murphy. After that pluto nash movie, I felt he should return to stand-up with a fresh routine or just fade away. I just hope he doesn;t wear green tights and a purple mask, I'll be pissed. Though I will say, an African American can pull of a green and purple suit a lot easier than a white guy. Just the whole pimp trend.

What's the deal with Lucious Fox? He said he would resign if the machine was at Wayne Enterprises, but it looked like it exploded at the end. Will he stay with Wayne?

It's implied that the Ra's Al Ghul has had unlimited succesors to the name over the years so maybe a new face/actor can be cast in that role to head the League of Shadows onto Gotham again giving Batman some new fight seeing as he, Gordon and Dent put away nearly the entire mob away in The Dark Knight. Talia Al Ghul (Ra's daughter) could serve as a fitting love interest for Bruce Wayne along the lines of hiding her true identity or something like that.

I think the Riddler or Catwoman is the way to go in the sequel maybe giving the Riddler a new twist but Eddie Murphy in the role? Not a chance maybe Edward Norton (Sure he was the hulk etc but he's the right frame/build for someone like Riddler and can hold a role like it.) or someone along that calibre. For Catwoman I can't think of anyone other than Angelina at the minute... maybe Scarlett Johansson?

It most certinly is not! Ra's Al Ghul is one man, in the comics he is hundreds of years old, in the movie they leave that open to debate but imply the he isn't with the screne at the mansion with the lines...

Bruce: "Ra's Al Ghul is dead, I watched him die."

Ducard/Ra's: "But is Ra's Al Ghul immortal, or are his methods supernatural?"

Bruce: "Or cheap parlor tricks to conceal his true Identity, Ra's"

Ducard/Ra's: "Surely a man who spends his night scrambling across rooftops wouldnt begrudge me for duel identies."

They mention that the League of shadows is hundreds of years old, and give Ra's a secret identity to give him a kind of artifical immortality and as to replace the ultra unrealistic "Lazerus Pits"

I apologise. The way I have read on the boards of imdb etc (and inteperated myself is) that Ra's Al Ghul was just a name for hundreds of years fulfilled by 'mortal' men such as Ducard and when they died or are no longer able to keep the title they pass it on to someone more worthy (Successor etc). I'm well aware of the comic version of Ra's and the Lazarus Pits scenario but we both know that the writers are staying well clear of anything 'supernatural' about the rebooted movies series.

I might have left something out i'll come back to it in a bit when i'm in a right frame of mind and not frustrated by this lag

I can see passing the torch as Ra's from person to person as a preplacement to the lazarus pit. But Ducard concealed his identity with alternate Ra's's in Batman Begins. So who knows.

Here are some things I've found on the next batman.

link

Batman on film

Regarding Jolie as Catwoman, think about it: Nolan got rid of Tom Cruise's wife, which was a great move! Get rid of that tabloid Bee Ess and get down to business. I hope he avoids Brangalina.

Just found this... It says Riddler, Catwoman and Robin have been cast. This better not be true. Except for the catwoman actress. Also, none of the three actors list Batman as an upcoming movie on thier imdb site. And this link says the source of the rumors "...should be taken with a pinch of salt at the moment".

Edit: Ok, found this that says Murphy said it's untrue.
