As most early CR1 spies remember there were very obvious advantages of having Invisibility compared to sneak in combat related situations. Most notable was the fact that it gave a speed boost instead of what is currently considered a speed penalty.
Some might argue that this was overpowering. In some regards I can agree in the old regime of things that allowed a spy to interlock at any given moment even when someone was in battle with another player. This allowed spies to move at such a fast pace that in many regards their large damage output in conjunction with their speed advantage made them in need of a nerf.
Now we are full force into CR2 spies can no longer take advantage of many of their previous functions. There are definate advantages of being a spy now such as the ability to interlock knife people but in regards to mobility and your ability to use it effectively we have been toned down in respect to many other classes.
Invisibility has always been considered a higher alternative to sneak. It is why there were items made in the game for the exact ability and it is why it is higher in the spy trees than sneak is. I feel it is time to give this ability a more defined advantage than a low level ability that spies get as early as level 13. I would leave this advantage up to skilled testers who can judge what would fit best within the games system instead of throwing around random numbers off the top of my head.
At this point testing rescently I have noticed no real advantage in using invisibilty over sneak. In fact the only redeeming factor of going this high into the tree is so I can fully level it for the passive stat buffs. In my opinion its time to explore either a reduction in the effective nature of sneak or a buff in regards to how invisbility is utilized in game.

I've never been a fan of invisiblity just due to the fact that in order to use it you need an invisiblity belt which takes up inventory space, but more than that because invisiblity doesnt last forever, once the timer is up you pop out which when your stalking someone waiting for the perfect moment to strike can be troublesome.
Im also not a fan of trying to give it an advantage due to the fact that if you load up improved invisiblity your getting closer to having master shadow which is one of the most uesless, cheap, and annoying abilities in the game, and I dont think we should encourage people to start heading down that tree when there are much more appealing abilities in mkt and assassin.
In its current form, Invisibility SUCKS.
Prior to the nerf, Invisibility was highly used by all spies. This was mainly due to the upright standing position as well as it not affecting movement speed. Now its worse that sneak, yet is higher in the tree, requires a tool and is not optional.
I want invisibility put back to its former incarnation. It has a timer so it cannot be abused. Plus, it relies on a tool that degrades as time goes by. I miss being able to run invisible, jump invisible and climb invisible.
The invisibility movement is pretty awful atm, more Orangutan than stealth.
Makes sense to me that invisibility should allow proper freedom of movement including jumping etc or else it rests as inferior to any combination of disguise or sneak.
Rarebit states that because its a bit faster than Sneak that it is functioning as intended.
What a croc of...
I'm pretty sure the advantage to using invisibilty is that it, unlike sneak, is not affected by damage.

Taking damage does NOT pop you out of invisibilty.
