Hi all,
Newbie question, I seem to be being attacked by agents 5 mins after I am in the matrix no matter where. I thought it was a hack but according to a GM it is actually part of the current storyline :
"attack is actually part of the current MXO Storyline that has been going on for the past 5 or so Chapters where these level 100 Agents have been attacking the Zion players."
The GM pointed me to the forum and the chapter details as an answer to stop these attacks happening, I have spent a couple of hours trawling but I have not been able to find an answer as to why agents keep spawning on me the whole time and how to make them stop
Any help and/or link to a post would be gratefully received as I am going insane trying to figure how to stop these attacks so I can play for more than a few mins without an agent appearing....
Cheers

You wont be attacked by agents if you mission in richland however when you hit lvl 16 (check?) you are forced to mission in westview if you are being attacked very frequently it is worth while tapping your nodes see here
This will grant you access to the areas and reduce agent spawns it will stop you being attacked by the lvl255 agents who continuously re spawn please note however you will still get spawned on by lvl55 agents but not as often and they are not as persistent. You also get decent Exp from doing this so its well worth doing.

Currently the truce has been broken between the Machines and Zion because Zion decided to make a city further down into the earth to escape from the Machines reach. The Machines decided that Zion is no longer protected from the truce and the Machines have been spawning Agents on Zion red pills in an effort to stop their recruitment effort.
Because of this if you venture outside of Richland you will come across 2 types of Agents, First of all is the level 255 Agents which as stated before can be stopped by tapping nodes, it's recommended you do this firstly because you get an XP boost, and secondly it stops one type of Agent when you enter a district in Westview / International / Downtown. These agents will continue to follow you till you Hard-line away and even for level 50's they can take you out in a good 2-3 shots. Secondly you will come across level 100 Agents, these are the storyline Agents that came with the breaking of the Truce, Unfortunately there isn't any way to stop them from attacking you but they don't conform to the standard level 255 Agent routine of following you till you either Hard-line away or Die. One Hyper-Jump will easily loose them.

Since the level 55 agent thing confused me ... 255 Agents: Connected to the Access Nodes, tap the nodes to stop them spawning on you. These are really hard to escape, they will spawn next to you where ever you stand, to escape, do anything that results in the loading screen. 100 Agents: Connected to nothing, they only spawn on you while out doors in Westview, International and Downtown. Easy to escape, just get out of range of them (Hyper Jumping on the spot is the quickest). Can not be stopped, not until the war we are in has stopped in some way so try and make sure you are indoors when ever your not going to a mission area or in Richland. Also, these Agents only spawn on you if you are Zion.

I understand even level 100 Agents are (probably not much) less likely to come after you if you have hacked your Access Nodes. Also, some abilities are more likely to attract an Agent than others - keep an eye on your Agentometer (Threat Meter on your Compass) for an indication of how dangerous the area is.

The lvl 100 Agents will tend to spawn as soon as you step out of a hardline in any area except Richland, so be prepared to hyperjump right away. Also, try to keep to buildings while running through Westview - this will keep the (lvl 100) Agents from spawning on you, and the local enemies won't follow you indoors. One thing you should note about your "threat meter" down at the bottom: it increases quickly if you're firing guns in a restricted area. To keep this from happening either load something other than guns (like Martial Arts or Spy), or get a Silenced weapon.

This is completely wrong.
You can mission in Richland to 50.

Wrong, from level 16-33 you are forced to mission in Westview, you can start the mission in depths of Richland hell and more than likely the mission area will be in Stamos, always was for me until I went to International (Where I kept going till 50)
Though it is advised you do your Archived missions in Richland/Westview, some of them bug out sometimes if not. Unless they fixed that bug.

It wasn't so much a bug as it was the missions using specific locations and neighbourhoods found only in richland. I wish they'd use the other districts for exclusivity stuff like that sometimes but then you run the risk of excluding lower level players as well as having to code some sort of notification of where a mission must be run before you assume its bugged and not working properly.

I don't remember my threat 'o' meter ever working. I can get both lvl255 Agents and lvl100 Agents spawn on me (even though the lvl100 Agents are on a different spawn system I think) and the meter will still be mostly to the left.
Yeah, the mission flow is supposed to take you to Westview at around lvl 16 but it's easier in International. Every time I started a normal mission or Archive (as long as it's not designed to be done in Richland) it located the mission area in Westview unless I was in Int at the time.

The threat meter is how LIKELY you are to be attacked. Not if it's about to happen. Using abilities and such makes it go up, and the higher it is, the quicker agents notice you.
