There's also the fact that around 25 of the devs from Monolith (including Erik Krebs and Andy Kaplan) are still working on the game with SOE. So yes, the entire dev team for MxO is not the same as the one for SWG.
STOP COMPAIRING MXO TO OTHER GAMES!
ITs that simple, MXO is not SWG, it has a diffrent player base, diffrent set of rules, diffrent source code. What may be implimented in one game is not going to be done in another. Did anyone who plays the other games see a pandoras box pop up in SWG or WoW?
I must admit the endless assumptions that SOE is going to turn Matrix Online into Star Wars Galaxies were old when they started, as soon as the sale was announced.
They have not become anymore feasible with age.
At the same time, everyone was certain there would be no more events (incorrect), all devs were fired (incorrect) and SOE would begin banning everyone who lloed at them funny (also incorrect).
As for the bizarre fear that everything that happens to SWG will happen to MxO just because they are owned by the same company, I remind you that Monopoly, Risk, Clue and Sorry were all developed and owned by Parker Brothers (now Hasbro). Beyond the basic materials (a board with pieces) and play style (move pieces around said board) was there any real similarity between those games? When they released Clue did they feel the need to add lead pipes and Col. Mustard to Monopoly?
In a word, No.
The same is true for MxO and SWG. Different concepts, different deveolpers, different target audience, different player base.
Different games.
