I like to think that somewhere there's a group of people for whom things go smoothly most of the time. Call it a desire for karmic balance. For us, things tend to get complicated.

Normally, a data drop from an undercover operative is a matter of routine. Normally, their data doesn't contain detailed information on powerful lupines programs plotting a strike against Zion. Normally, those self-same lupine programs don't get wind of the operative, and ambush them right as the drop goes down.

I don't think our agent, Samen, knew what hit her--it was about forty lupines, including a nasty one who went by the name of Vagrath. Fortunately, our people had just picked up indications that the drop had leaked, and were there in force. In the huge melee following the lupine ambush at the drop site in Moriah Courts, Vagrath snatched the data, and took off.

Normally, someone like that would get clean away, and that would be the end of it.

But this was Zion he was dealing with, and we like to make things difficult for people who have it in for us. Vagrath didn't get far; not all at once, anyway. He had a lot of tricks up his sleeve, and a lot of lupines backing him up, but he never quite managed to give us the slip. He got his data back--very briefly. If he was still around, I think he'd agree that he shouldn't have bothered.

I was called in to thank our successful operatives and liaison officers. It's hard to know what to say at times like this that doesn't sound formulaic, but they were sufficiently happy that I don't think it mattered. They were being congratulated, they deserved it, and that was enough.

Bluepills call it a good day when they get their tax return, or when they beat the traffic at rush hour. In Zion, we'll settle for a day where we take out a few hundred hostile programs, and stop a deadly plot. Today, there are a few fewer complications.

We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Friggin' lupines. Good thing we had some of those Enhanced Silver Bullets left. But alas, now I'm down to my final bullet. Perhaps the General could hook us up with some more? :smileywink:

On another note, it was nothing more than a bloody massacre that day. I think the most Merv operatives around were about seven or eight compared to the great masses of Zergonite Cookie Crumbs. Alas I had to take it upon myself to distract the hordes.....being level 22 pvp flagged certainly helped with that. "Duh, look. a lowbie's flagged! Free CQ!".......morons.

It was indeed an honor to meet you again Ghost.  The operation was
a bit complicated, but in the end Zion took care of the
situation.  It was a great display of teamwork and coordination
following Zagrath throghout Richland and finally taking him down. 
Nice work Zion, I am proud to be one of you.

Well down, operatives on-duty in the Recursion Instance of the Matrix. At least the war against the Merovingian is doing well.
