Much thanks. My bro is a smart guy and he'll do what he needs to to protect his family. They've got friends up in Tyler who are going to take them in.

Just an update for anyone who hasn't read it yet: The governor of Texas ordered all southbound lanes of I-45 closed and converted to northbound traffic only for 125 miles outside of Houston. One bottleneck taken care of.

the world is gonna end. Tsunami, hurricane, bushfires and now ANOTHER hurricane? not to mention all the stuff u never hear about like earthquakes n stuff.

im not gonna moan about bush, just wish good luck to those who need it. black, white, rich, poor it dont matter. the hurricane will end ur life regardless... so when u think about it, is a war really neccesary right now?

everybody who can get out, do that. anybody who is forced to stay for wutever reason, be safe please SMILEY

When someone told me about this I didn't fully comprehend what they were saying. I cannot belive two big Hurricanes hit inside a month. It's just terrible, shouts go out to everyone affected by the **bleep** that is Rita.

It just sucks....

This is the eighteenth hurricane this season.  It hasn't been this bad in a long time, but yes, we do have a season for hurricanes, and most of us are prepared.  Keep thinking happy thoughts.  Texas is very well organized when it comes to evacuations... thank goodness.

And there are two more months left in this season.  Last year Florida got slammed hard and now Katrina and Rita tear up the Gulf Coast.  I pray Texas isn't ripped as bad as LA and MS were.

Dont worry, texas has been hit before, and we're taking extra precations in the face of Katrina's aftermath.

I am in houston (Sugar Land, really) and we are planning to stay.  The traffic is pretty bad.

We are pretty far enough away from things that we should be ok.  We have food, water and power in reserve.

I have a live web cam /blog setup if you want to watch from the safety of your home
