Anyone know what that was a reference to? Obviously it was from something. And I know he was talking to tank, but I mean the real background behind the Mr. Wizard comment. Thanks!

I think it was because Tank was able to, ya know, load guns, training simulations, all that. Not sure if that was what you were looking for but I tried, right?

When Neo is calling to get extracted from the Matrix, he says, "Mr. Wizard get me out of here." - a reference to the 1960s cartoon Tooter Turtle. Each episode, Tooter would yearn to be something he wasn't and have his friend Mr. Wizard (a lizard) wave his magic wand and make him an astronaut or a scientist or whatever. Inevitably, Tooter would quickly get himself into trouble and call out, "Help Mr Wizard," and the lizard would say, "Drizzle, drazzle, druzzle, drome, time for this one to come home." Tooter would be transported back to his old self and be chided by Mr Wizard to "be happy with what you are". Source: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133093/trivia

There are some of us who dissected these films to their tiniest component, believing there to be some hidden gem always waiting to be found. One thing I like about MxO is that it genuinely tries to follow in this same spirit of complexity and hidden knowledge. Questions that drive you to find answers which lead to only more questions, the deeper down you go.

Thanks Gami! I always though it was from The Wizard from Oz. - Where Oz is the Matrix, and the girl Dorothy asks the Wizard to exit Oz and return to Cansas (the Real). "Buckle your seatbelt Dorothy, cause Cansas is going bye bye" - Cypher.

LOL! Both quotes are like totally screwed over in German. Don't exactly remember the first one, but the one with Dorothy and Kansas just goes like this: "It means that you should better fasten yourself, because it's gonna be quite uncomfortable here soon". Rotflmfaol!

Uh, I always assumed it was because Neo was a hacker and watched tv to learn, and it's pretty obvious the brothers meant for us to assume the Matrix is the same as our really real life world..
Plus, I bet you anything the brothers watched this show..

Well... P-A did say that Tastee Wheat improved bed performance, but that's hardly something the German translators could know in 1999 I really don't know what the freakin' hell they were thinking. The voices are really brilliant (seriously, I even prefer Smith's German voice over the original in some way), but the translators definitely didn't do a completely thorough job. Don't think it's the same with the sequels, though.

I'm going to have to back the theory on the Nickelodeon show. Mr. Wizard was sort of a "Bill Nye" type, teaching little kids science experiments.
