I logged in today and all my hotbar set ups  and  my map "blips" had suddenly vanished, I have not changed or messed with either of the files in my monolith folder that would cause this.  They just suddenly got "wiped" for some reason.

So I logged out for a couple hours hoping they would be back next time i logged in, I came back, and still nothing.  I stuck around a bit, set up my hotbar for some duels.... then crashed at a box 4 drop.  When I  logged-back in, once again my hotbar set-ups were gone.

Some reason my hotbars keep dissapearing, which is annoying, but shouldn't be hard to replace once this is fixed. But my map blips, replacing them would be impossible, and I'm not sure if I can get my old ones back.

Any ideas on a fix for this?

Matrix dorectory (usually C:\Program Files\Monolith Productions\The Matrix Online) and check that none of the files in your Profiles directory or sub-directory are set to read-only. Also, if you have multiple Profiles folders (such as Profiles, Profiles1, Profiles2, etc) it is likely a new folder has been created witha  default blank profile for you. You would want to rename the old Profiles folder (most likely the lowest-sequential-number) to Profiles (after removing or renaming the current Profiles folder) and then log in.

Also, double-check that you are the Administrator on this system,a nd that you have FULL reand and write access to the game directory. You may need to log in as the default Administrator (that's the actual login name) and re-grant your user account permission to change the files in the Matrix directory.

Okay I'm checking on all this right now.  I only have one profiles folder, check.
- None of the files themselves with-in the profile directory and sub-directory, the .cfg files etc. are set to read-only, check.... the only things set to read-only is the "profiles" folder and the character name folders, so the files with-in them are not.

Okay, I log back in and my hot bars aren't dissapearing  anymore, but I haven't changed anything. They're just working again now, so I'll redo all my hotbars but I'll still have lost all of my map blips.

This is interesting, none of my alternate characters lost the hotbar set-ups or map blips (pblip.cfg).   This only happended to one created character.  any ideas?

Read this thread RE: backing up and restoring your hotbar and map blips:
http://mxoboards.station.sony.com/matrix/board/message?board.id=techsupport&message.id=8211

Chances are the game client crashed or or had a glitch while shutting down last time you were using this character. The server detects a corrupt character profile and instead of just fixing the bad file it recreates the entire profile back to default, killing off your pblip.cfg and your hotbar settings (including macros). None of this info is stored on the server, just on the client end, so it will not automatically come back. For your map, either copy the pblip.cfg file from another character profile, or (since you don't have one) download a full map, with flags of hardlines, mission contacts, collectors and key locations, from here.

http://www.aliciaandnick.com/MxO/files/pblip.zip

unzip this (after giving it an anti-virus scan, I trust my server but don't expect you to :manvery-happySMILEY to your character profile directory (C:\Program Files\Monolith Productions\The Matrix Online\Profiles\[STATION ACCOUNT NAME]\[character]\)
