I don't visit the Sphinx very often, but I must agree: It's a deserted place like many other in the Megacity. That's why I still prefer a hardlined location as the "hangout" (alternatively, we could equip the Sphinx with a phone, that would be perfect). I am not that patient - and it doesn't take so much time to check a place if you can hardline right into the middle of it. So, just my 2 cents about that location issue and such (totally offtopic in the recruitment forums, too).

going back a couple of pages, when you all said there is no Zion factions that RP, I have to make a correction, there are still a couple that do, Winter Brood is one, although we don't have the large capacity numbers we use too, we are starting to make a comeback with our veteran players making returns to the game, and I'm sure sometime in the next couple to 3 months we'll have a player event to do, kind of a what all has happened since our last event back in March of this year. A few of our heavy RPers got burned out after spending several months trying to tie up all the loose ends on our last event, and quite a few of them have gone to other games. I, myself am not much of a rp person anymore cause I got burned out after doing it for 18yrs playing Vampire the Masquerade, but I will help out and toss in some ideas I believe will work in certain RP standpoints. At the moment the holiday has laid claim to a few of our regular RPers who are on winter holiday vacation from school, but if you want to RP with a member of the Brood, catch PBell, TelAviv, TPaine (yes he does still play, and no he will not sell his mask), Zayqar, Vedren, Senliten, (I know there are a couple of others, but brain is starting to hurt). You might catch Personlll, and myself doing some RP, but the two of us are primarily doing pvp or hunting down things in the Matrix, or helping others getting access keys, nodes, and hardlines, or doing missions.
Gami's faction E Pluribus Neo also does RP, and so does Skyscream's faction The True Believers.
So thats about all I can say for the moment, other than just hang in there, and the RP scene will pick back up when the new year starts and the main storyline picks back up.
Indeed, while at times many would like to believe that RP is completely seperate from the main storyline of the game, it is not. The two are irrevocably linked and the ebbs and flows are mimiced by Player Storylines in accord with the main storyline. If the Main storyline is dull (unlimit) then less people bother to jack in to RP around it, if the storyline is captivating then more people jack in to immerse within the main story and thereby develop offshoots with regard to their own RP.
Now, aside from the pretentious remark made earlier which had little relevance other than to ego, I agree with almost everything else.
That is so very true...I think RPers should not RP with the Storyline. Unless at a Live event, you should just make up some stuff!Like Veritas Lucis, for example. Our RP objective is a perfect example.
Indeed, our goal is far from a perfect example. a) Because in game RP with regard to the surface is limited b) Because the main storyline could at any point decide to completely screw our goals and have the surface cleared.
And my point was that while RP does happen outside of the fixed storyline, the main motivation and driving factor for most people to be in the matrix is the predominant story. Without a good main storyline, there is no RP as no one can be bothered.
I was wondering the same thing when I came back to MxO earlier last week. I missed the vast amounts of RP during '05 and that stretch of time. Coming back now, though, is nothing like what I remember. I almost never see anyone in character anymore. It's kind of depressing.
I'm currently in an EPN faction, but might be leaving to form my own crew. A roleplaying based one, obviously. Anyone interested in either joining, or looking for another ship for an EPN faction, let me know, I suppose.
