True, MXO has been improving over what is eventually a year under SOE's control, but a good portion of the developers devoted to this game have been seriously under-manned (especially with Rarebit being spread out badly), and it has been considered nearly impossible to get a Live Event on a player's home server. As far as I know, Recursion and Vector got more Live Events than Syntax, which I feel is not fair, and I know this is not their fault.  If only there were a few more developers helping out Rarebit, Walrus, and crew, we could at least have an equal amount of events, instead of Syntax getting the short end of the stick.

Regarding Star Wars Galaxies, I have been hearing that the game has been considered worse every time a new update is given, and that the game was doomed to begin with. At least pull the plug so a few more developers can be devoted to help out on the Matrix Online. As far as I can see it, MXO may not be on life support, but it's on crutches the way I see it.

As bad as that sounds for the current players of SWG, it's true. This company has turbned that game ito a first person shooter that feels more like a console game than an MMO.

In any case MXO desrves the same attention that SWG once had, and if that attention (both financially and in the form of DEVS) was given by SOE, i'm sure that this game would take off and possibly blow WoW out of the water.

As a company I could not just sit around and allow Blizzard to walk all over me with just 1 game...When i have a fleet of them each designed to meet the different gaming needs of modern day online gamers.

Unless as a company I have given up, wich appears to be the case for MXO. SMILEY

Ive always heard not to bother with SWG. So wouldnt affect me, if their customer population is smaller then mxo, make an effective decision. Take those dev's and move them to mxo. That will help double our output in terms of development for mxo which i feel will be better in the long run for profit reasons, alot of people will get their accounts reactivated if there is more to do. Also maybe we can take there server space and add a new hostile server, or spread them out again!.

I have never played SWG but I could imagine how sad it must be for the people still playing the game if the Devs wold just drop it like a hot potatoe now. Imagine this would happen to MxO so Everquest could have more Devs? You would be sad right?

They shouldn't drop any game unless population is to low to continue...

However, since I've seen EQII have Adventure packs and Expansion packs I reckon they have a good Dev amount...

If SWG is as poor as they say get more Devs, or move them from game to game (one by one or something)

Again They Should NOT drop the game... unless lets say... 10 people are on...

MxO needs attention Badly, the bugs that are showing now, like the bud-list / mail / tell / show-offline bug that's raging over the servers and is hard to get rid off (permanent)
MxO is telling SOE to pay attention to it, Walrus, Rarebit and other devs are not able to handle it anymore, they put org abils on hold because they can't cope with it...

In short: SOE listen to the comunity and what the game it self says: MxO needs Attention BAD! Good updates, good bug fixes, good service, possible expantion (to lure the lost elites back) and last but not least: It needs more devs either newly employed or drawn from other games!

I mean SOE can afford another Dev. I am sure the game itself is and was expensive but every subscriber pay atleast 10 dollars a month some even 15 so lets take the goledn middle, 12.50. Now lets take a guess and say that there are 200.000 users no thats a lot lets say 50000 that sounds preatty right. Now they each pay 12.50 a month that makes 625000 dolars a month. Lets say they need to spend about 500000 a month for repairs and emploiment and all those other things (thats HALF A MILLION) and you haf left 125000 dollars pure win. And this only with 50000 users. I think you  can afford some more help.

LOL

Umm.. I played/play SWG, funny thing it has more players then MxO!
I'm not gonna say the game is BETTER then MxO, it's a fact it isn't. But I think the suggestion of "Moving Devs from SWG to MxO" is a little.. well...
If there were to be made changes in MxO, i'd say Get a game designer and actualy make something new

Hey guys, hate to break the news to you, but SWG is still going strong.   Its actual subscriber base is around 110k to 175k (people that have registered accounts) by latest estimates with the estimate trending towards the upper range.   Everquest 2 has around 175k registered subscribers.  DAOC, still considered a very successful MMORPG, has around 125k.  Matrix Online, has around 30k. (Numbers courtesy of research from mmogchart.com)

I like MxO, but I to even think its subscriber base comes close to SWG is just being silly.

I like SWG too.  I'm a science fiction nut.   So I play both.  SMILEY

SWG with the exception of J2LS, is a joke compared to Pre-NGE. The amount of active players on most of the servers is pathetic, but there are few servers with solid populations (starsider from what I saw). However, I imagine alot of those registered users aren't completely active. For instance, I have my subscription active for Planetside/EQ2/SWG/MxO, because I have the 25 dollar station thing, incase I feel like playing any of the games, however, I only have MxO installed. I bet alot of those subscriptions are that type.

Also, someone had gotten ahold of the server traffic for SWG a while ago and leaked it, and Sony began scrambling to cover it up, Sony is not new to fudging their subscription numbers.

Anyone remember when the Penny Arcade boys sent Sony a thousand krispy creme donuts? One for every SWG player? (I am pretty sure thats what it was, I might be misquoting that.)

The last two posts on that page.

Here's some pics and quotes. I did have the story a little twisted but its still funny and valid.

"I’ve been told that creative people simply don’t last long at SOE. I’ve heard so many horror stories from people in the industry who used to work at SOE or still languish there. The place comes off sounding like some kind of elephant graveyard where creative people go to die. With that said I have to admit that those sons of **CENSORED** have a sense of humor. Smedley sent me an email this morning that just said he’d sent me a package. I assumed it was a bomb but just a few minutes ago a man showed up and proclaimed that he “had our donuts”. That’s not something I expected to hear today. We followed him out to his truck where he showed us our 1,200 freshly baked Krispy Kreme donuts."

and

"Just an update on the 1,200 donuts situation. We were able to give all the donuts away. We gave some to the other businesses here in our office building. We also sent a few hundred over to the Seattle Children’s hospital for the staff there. Then we let our PAX enforcers come by and dig in.   A few people have made the comment to me that it was nice of SOE to send us one donut for every subscriber they have. The other funny remark I heard was that this is the best product SOE has ever shipped. You guys are mean."
