Thanks for that, firstly some of the pictures in the guide could be better SMILEY

I would state "anywhere in the matrix" about being flagged for pvp, just so ppl get it.

Also looking at it straight off we could add something about the RP side of things, where you mention aobut meeting other redpills, like

"become part of the story while interacting with players, get to meet LE chracters in events around the matrix as you lvl" along those lines.

No offense, but hardly anyone is going to read the guide unless it pops up in-game. Most noobs would rather be frustrated with the game and leave rather than take the time to go to the website and click two links.

Will there be some sort of pop-up window in-game, like the Sentinel?

After a quick skim i'd just say it needs

A) To either be entirely IC from tyndall, and done well, or completely OOC from the get go. The intro is just, imo, really quite shoddy atm and doesn't enhance the experience. Just makes it feel awkward and faked.

B) Better explaination of a hostile server.

Im sure theres more but thats for after sleep. lol.

For a noob starting out I thought the guide was excellent. If I had something like that to go by than life would've been alot easier on the road to 50 from the get go. Then again....alot of the stuff in the guide wasn't available then, but you get my point. Well done!
Can't think of much else that needs to be added myself except maybe mentioning constructs and the archive missions.

Looks pretty good for a start. I think it could be better though.

---First thing I would do is make the article out of character so it won't be as biased.  You can have it from the Operator or another redpill to make it feel Matrixy.

---Tell them that nothing is stopping them from going to other parts of the City like downtown. Just warn them of the dangers. That will make the player feel that they're not barricaded in one spot.

---The Mission system article definatly needs to stand out more. Most players would rather start with the storylike and they're more likely going to skim and skip that section, and as a result, won't have an idea on how to start their adventure. And be sure to tell them about the more missions they do, the more likely the Machines and Merovingian takes notice and invite them to their organization. (Having the article OOC will make it easier to do this.)

---Merge the two Uriah articles together so the player won't feel stranded there. I don't think the lower level mobs attack new redpills so they should be able to roam around without too much trouble. This will help make it feel like they 'can and cannot do' instead of 'should and shouldn't.

Hmm it looks very good Walrus, though I would recomend a better looking picture of Tyndall if possible, the white little pixels around her just sort of throw her off.

Secondly I would recomend putting in something about roleplay. Possibly about doing it with your fellow redpills, learn the ropes from them. And that the guide itself is coming from a IC prespective of zionist character

Also as time moves on and you progress  you are capable for working then people other then zion.

That picture of tyndall just stinks. It's got jaggies on the edges...if you could atleast blur those out with photoshop that'd help a bit.  But it could be better.

Looking forward to update 46! Can't wait for the new Zero One updates!

I agree with Q, that Tyndall picture is quite horrid. I had a go at cleaning up, if you care to use it:

Right, now to the guide itself:

I beleive that if you start in character, you should keep it in character, and if you desperately need to go out of character, use brackets, just for one word explanations. A prime example of this is the descriptions of the servers, IMO, i'd write something like:

"There are three intances (Servers) to choose from in The Matrix.Vector is what we call a “hostile” instance, which means once you reach a level of experience (Level 16), The truce between you and other organisation's redpills becomes void and you are subject to Organisation versus Organization combat (PvP) rules. The Recursion and Syntax instances are “normal” instances. You can choose when to fight by flagging for combat (by typing /pvp in the chat window.)

Choose your instance carefully, as RSIs cannot be moved between servers. If you are planning on working with other people make sure you are all together on the same instance."

*Shrugs* Just my take on how it should be set out. I think the rest should be set out in a similar standard. As far as content itself goes, however, then the guide is a pretty good tool, very good indeed, it covers all the basics and some advanced steps to getting to grips with the Matrix. Good guide, Walrus. SMILEY

Also, no pressure on the White Hallways thing. SMILEY SMILEY

There should be a small section telling em how to 'get into 'the story, like saying bout watching the cinematics, checking out the archivists, asking questions etc.

Maybe even point em towards certain fan work SMILEY

Also, i though i might as well say it here...

GO OVER SOME OF THE 'I' NPCS DIALOGUE, UPDATE AND ADD TO IT. REALLY POINT EM OUT TO PEOPLE. THEY CAN BE A REALLY AWESOME TOOL TO LET PEOPLE WHAT ELSE THEY CAN DO BESIDES MISSIONS.

I hate how this game has more content than just missions but people just dont know about any of it, there is no mention of several key points like pandoras box or the archivists in game. Which sucks.

If you could get Chuui, or just copy his notes from the Redpill guides on the forums, you'd have your own Redpill New Player Guide very quick.

"The one exception is clothing, which you'll see is limited here, but that will soon be remedied. Once you jack in and start exploring the Matrix you will find yourself overwhelmed with new and stylish options for just about any taste."

Think its a little vague and confusing. 'Here' sounds like refers to the game in general at first, a bit offsetting. The remedied thing is a wee bit confusing, and put blunty, pointless too.

Maybe something like...

"The one exception is clothing, which you'll notice is limited during character creation, but dont worry, once you jack in and start exploring the Matrix you will find yourself overwhelmed with new and stylish options for just about any taste."
