There is also another TSR registered on the board, TSR-Bill so perhaps the job is now being split between the 3 between all the games.

Welcome anyway. SMILEY

Greetings Everyone,

It is true, Joel has moved on in the company and I will be taking his posting responsibilities on the MXO tech board.  Bill is taking over Joe's PS posting responsibilities.

Thanks for the welcome.  I'll definitely do my best.

I'm sorry to say this, but I find it rather hypocritical that this - a social thread - has not been locked when another thread was locked with the following cookie cutter response:

This thread is being locked as it is not on topic for the Technical Support forum.

”Community Policies”

On topic posts will be posts that reflect problems getting in game, running the game, or system errors while in game. This does not include in-game mechanics (missions, skills, objects, characters, etc). For any in-game issues we would ask that you please submit a ticket via the /ccr command (in game) to contact In-Game Customer Service. Also, the Technical Support forums are not for reporting in-game bugs. If you have an issue regarding a bug, then we request that you use the /bug command while in game.

Despite that thread being far more "on-topic" than this one! Sure, it may have been about the technical aspects of these boards and a suggestion thereto, but as we have no other board that comes close to being "on-topic" for discussions of board problems/suggestions, it's rather off-putting that they are to now be locked without even any consideration or discussion while a social thread such as this, is not only replied to, but left open! What are we paying for? Social discussion and no help?

May I suggest that in future, if you are going to just lock the "off-topic" threads, then you should be doing it for all of them, and not just the ones you don't feel like dealing with. It would also be better if you didn't use the cookie cutter response as, to be honest, they are usually not helpful and just wind up annoying the paying customers.

Sorry if this was rude or blunt, but I felt it needed to be said.

with vector and other boards there's about 50+threads to delete every day...they get around to 5-10 at most on a good day. Leaving some without closing them doesn't mean it should still be there, but rather that they didn't get to it cause there were more deserving threads to lock.

chill chuii, you've become very angry since the event...

Well seeing that thread locked gave me a bad impression. Past threads
would be started that would feature links to good websites for tech
stuff(one i started) and plenty of other good stuff where the tech ppl
would give tips and tricks.  Now this just looks straight
business, and no fun/social community stuff. Joel really wanted to help
this community and helped foster this tech forum community.  Now
it looks like that will be gone and replaced with this straight "help
me" posts....I dunno I liked it better the way it was. I hope this was
just a bad impression.

Exactly QforQ. And it's nothing to do with a message "being in the queue". It was locked when he read it, not after someone reported it. It just showed a double standard that really just doesn't sit right with me.

Angry after the event? Not really. I'm just more vocal about things now that I find myself no longer enjoying this game. I want to see something positive soon, and all we get is brushed off. So yeah, I'm getting a little annoyed. And having to get up at 4am for events now? Seriously makes me consider whether I am now getting value for my money. Right now, I'm leaning towards no =( So I may well be leaving the game within the next two months and once I leave, I doubt I'll ever be able to come back - and I can't really go into reasons why as they are personal, financial reasons.

It doesnt seem to be...but I just wanted to ask one question.

Are we allowed to have threads where we give good links and technical
advice?  Or is this just a game related "I need help" forum now?

Hello,

Most stuff will probably be over looked as long as it doesn't turn into a flame war.  However, people requesting that dev add a new feature to the game or to fix certain bugs will be locked.  Simply because it will turn into a bug discussion that doesn't belong on the tech forum.

Well I hope you didnt get a bad impression of us here on the tech side
of MxO.   Most are very helpful and post regularly. We all
want to help eachother out with their rigs, and I've had a good time
posting on here.

Nice to meet you Ron, I hope you like your stay.

I have to say that I enjoy these forums, for the locked thread...it could have been left unlocked and we could have pointed the person in the right way and let it sink. Most topics die and I havent seen any wars on the tech forums. Things might be different with a new TSR but these are his forums and he can run them how he wants to, I just hope it doesent change and all that bad stuff SMILEY

Now, I want cake!

Hello,

I most certainly don't want to make a bad impression on the community.  I run the EQ2 Tech boards and have for a little while.  When you have boards that big, off topic posting presents a major problem.  I'll attempt to adjust for the smaller community of MXO.  As long as things stay constructive.  They likely won't be locked.

I'm not a new TSR though, close to 2 and a half years with SOE.
