Gotta be humiliating getting your butt handed to you by your own simulacrum. Nice of the General to make it clear that this thing was his creation all along. And if the old rust-bucket really is leaving after the repeated beat-downs we and everyone else have given him, that's the best news I've heard in a real long time.
It always made perfect sense. It was far too opportune, the messages too directed, too obviously directed to incite conflict and hatred.
It was too military.
It's nice to know who was pulling the strings for certain, I suppose, and even more... entertaining to see him have a conflict with his own creation. I could give a *CENSORED* what happens to this Morpheus Simulacrum - it's caused us enough damage and trouble that we won't want it around.
It seems that EPN still worship fake Morpheuses, though, maybe it can go hang out with them.
Form dictates function eh?
A few thoughts...
the general might find a nasty surprise if he attacks Zion - Niobe (paraphrased) : could this be illuding to the hardware being moved out of Zion?
The General is a shrewd and cunning mind. I would not be at all surprised if this apparent mutany causing him to run with his tail between his legs is merely a ploy to lowwer our guard towards the simulacrum and assume the General is on the run... I wouldn't be the first diversionary tactic he's tried. (( His face is on the Megacity Map that came with the Game box... don't assume he'll be gone anytime soon. How many main events has he been the root cause of... even the unlimits))
If it really was Morpheus that was killed by the assassin, and it really was his corpse that exploded into a cloud of flies, what's to say that this sim that has been filled with the appearance, behavioral patterns and recordings of the real Morpheus isn't acting like a lightning-rod attracting more of Morpheus' mind into it (assuming that morpheus' psyche was partially or completely dispersed into the code of the Matrix).
Who can say what unpredictable things may be happening now that the reset cycle of the Matrix has been brought to a halt.
Nothing ever goes quite right...
Hmm, The General being responsible for the Morpheus sim was so....predictable. His rebellion wasn't.
Aha, this is that "one last thing" The General had to take care of.
Now that The General is the cause of all evil and mischeif in the world, once he finally leaves, who will be the next great Villain?

Whilst there is currently little to support such a theory, I like this idea alot: It holds a certain symmetry. With all this corrupted code which is flying around Megacity at the moment, it would also be a very nice fly tie-in.
My initial thoughts were not as well constructed as phi. I simply considered the classic downfall of evil tyrants generally (no pun intended), and how they can often hold a pivotal role to the outcast minion. Might this simulacrum hold the key to the end of The General?
((Another Euro-friendly LE with a good attendence by many of the influencial figures on Syntax. It was also nice to see The Big Man mixing it up; even if he was a fake. A nice simple event to offer us all some closure on the "Is he/isn't he? debate. Nice :thumbup)
