"Data Node Boxes" defeat the value of the Box Rewards that you get from the Archeologist and they defeat the Box Quest itself. So here's the options: A: Remove Box NPC spawns from Data Nodes completely (that option sucks)B: Reduce the number of Box NPCs in Data Nodes so that doing an actual Box still makes senseC: Stop Data Node NPCs from dropping actual Box loot (that option sucks too)D: Make "Data Node Boxes" an extremely rare thing
I made some good money on the Box 1 and 2 guys that kept turning up (especially the Box 1 guys: I already have my Torturer's Gloves, so I just recycled the Blood-Spattered Notes, et al that I found on the guys), and I was finally able to get the Tiger Master's Coat. I was short a couple of scrolls, but this helped immensely, and it inspired me to have a Box 3 marathon... which might extend to a Box 4 marathon this Friday.
But yeah, I could see making the Box 1 and 2 guys a lot less likely to turn up: I lost count of the number of times those mad scientists have popped in out of nowhere when I was data mining Downtown.
I suggest you stop spawning complete PB sequences out of Data Nodes. So far I've gained 3 sets of Torturer's Gloves and 2 Tiger Master Coats just from Data Mining. It's OK to get a few Box NPCs out of a Data Node but spawning complete Boxes outta them defeats the sense of getting the items and doing the Box Missions. So either make Box spawns rare or reduce the number of box NPCs that bolt out of Data Nodes
