I can't possibly list what my favourite songs of all time are, that's far too stressful.  With that in mind:

Five songs, recently on constant rotation:

  • Massive Attack - Teardrop
  • Deftones - Cherry Waves
  • Portishead - Roads
  • Deftones - Change (In The House Of Flies)
  • Massive Attack - Dissolved Girl

Actually, bar Cherry Waves which is fairly new, I've probably listened to these songs countless times a week since they were released.

Thank you for devising a thread which didn't begin with derogatory flame.

These threads are always a pickle because I listen to so much music... it's hard to even pick from the "classic" songs that I listen to all the time; there are just so many.

When I listen to music I associate songs with the sights I'm seeing, smells, touch, et cetera. If a moment is intense enough, I can later recall it over and over for years by relistening to the song. Each one of the songs on this heavily pruned list holds some sort of special moment or meaning to me.

Adema - Speculum
Annie Lennox - Into the West
AFI - Miseria Cantare
A Perfect Circle - The Noose
Beatles - Let it Be
Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna
Cold feat. Aaron Lewis - Bleed
Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down Again
Era - The Mass
Evanescence - Eternal
Evanescence - Listen to the Rain
Fuel - Falls On Me
Gundam Wing End Credits
In Flames - Moonshield
Led Zepellin - Stairway to Heaven
Limp Bizkit - Welcome Home (cover of Metallica's Sanitarium)
Lord of the Rings - Gollum's Song
Lostprophets - The Fake Sound of Progress (Machine Mix)
Muse - Newborn
M83 - Let Men Burn Stars
Nine Inch Nails - Beside You In Time
Nirvana - You Know You're Right
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
RHCP - Californication
Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm
System of a Down - Chop Suey!
The Who - Teenage Wasteland
Type O Negative - Bloody Kisses

.... Oh, and just about every single song by Queen. Their Red Greatest Hits album was the first piece of music I ever bought, and I still consider it to be the best. Sigh, I suck at these threads.

I suppose if it had to be a top 5 of RIGHT NOW I'd go with:

Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm
Queen - We Are the Champions
Annie Lennox - Into the West
Evanescence - Eternal
Muse - Newborn

atm...i got a few..

Lost Prophets - Town Called Hypocrisy

Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger

The Kooks - Sofa Song and You don't love me

Utada Hikaru - Sanctuary

Muse - Bliss

Any random anime/rpg theme songs...

*edit*

i wanna say, im exactly like bay in the sense that music appeals to me on more than just a sound level, often i can relate video game/anime songs to the moment those songs were played at, and if i was encapsulated by that moment, i'll always like the song because the song has a meaning attached to it. Its the same with songs i've heard irl, if i've been doing something important/been doing something memorable or if its a tune thats played to a specific set of clips which mean something to me, i can relate and won't ever drop that song and what it means to me. I chop and change songs so much with whatever mood im in at the time...whether im depressed, excited, happy, relaxed..i'll have certain songs which keep me depressed or give me a lift or whatever..If a song has lyrics that i can relate to i'll generally always like it, be it heavy metal or pop...i don't restrain myself by liking a specific genre.
