Code shock - do something with it!

Okay, let's take alook at this ability;

Code shock
IS cost: 56
Reuse timer: 60 seconds (1 minuite)
Effects: Stun, daze, stagger, offbalance, confuse - 5 secs




This ability, really need's to have its effects legnthened. The problem is not only does it use 56 IS (which is ALOT), the states do not stay on long enough for you really to do anything with it.  Also, the reuse is waaaaay too long, 1 minuite for a few seconds? It renders the ability useless at the moment, hence why no-one uses it, like, ever. Let's take a look at a similar ability, bearing in mind code shock requires you to be level 47.

Suplex:
IS cost: 50
Reuse timer: 38 secs
Effects: Stagger, daze, off balance - 15 seconds

You need to be 27 to use this ability, and it's halfway down the tree compared to code shock, similar effects, but look at the reuse timer and effect time legnths, they are three times that of the code shock ability. WHY??????

Please increase the effect timer to make it useable again! ( Comments and thoughts appreciated as always ;)  )

I think this is fine as it is. any change to this ability and you will get the CR 1 zerg tactics back but they were meant to be doing a Balance anyway so im sure they will check over this.

This was if not the Most annoying an Annoying ability in cr 1 i can see the effects of it now,

Example.

Player 1 Uses Codeshock on Player 2.

Player 3 Redux's With all them Debuffs its pretty much Auto-hit.

Same for any required state Moves.. This is just like the Ravager downgrade has a long reuse but the effects of it being used are good for that little while.

What you pointed out is a 2 v 1 scenario Endo, in which the single player is supposed to get pwnt.

Even if they just made the states last 10 seconds but left the stun as only 5 seconds I think people would be happy.

To use Code Shock though you don't need to be stealthed and six meters or less behind an unshielded opponent.

It does have an annoying casting timer though.

What does everyone feel about suplex effects lasting 3 times longer than code shock, even though code shock is right at the end of the tree path??

Mkt has had enough nerfs.. i dont think it needs anymore

And you know aswell as alot of CR1 players that upgrading Codeshock is gonna be a bad move.

You sir miss the point entirely, she was implying that the timer on Code Shock should be increased to match Suplex, not Suplex be nerfed into line with Code Shock

Also, the fight animation steals time. When I put my opponent in the ground Powerless, the state dissapears just when he gets up. Why do I need him powerless while the animation is running on?
I'd like longer time states too.

Yep, a bunch of us were testing this out last night and it definately needs to be legnthened, by a few seconds at least, you can't do anything with it at the moment.

56 IS for 5 seconds of downgrades (I know a lot of downgrades, but still) is not fair.

At least 1 downgrade should stay for a longer time. Maybe add a Viral defense -30 for 30 seconds and keep the other downgrades for only 5 seconds.

MKT hasn't been nerfed even once. Cr1 Ability timers / effects are clearly fixes for instance.

And Swim is right in that.


On Topic: Indeed, some effects need to be lengthened a tad. They won't last long enough to have any impact at all. If you're in a team, you may have a chance that someone does an OoIL state special in that short time, but IL state specials are more difficult to pull off in that short time.
About the IS / reuse time / cast timer, they could be less, true. Well, not all 3, though.

Keep the IS the same, but shorten the re use timer to 30 secs and legnthen the effects to 15 secs long?

I covered this a while ago in a discussion about sneak openners but I will reiterate here.

Abilities are based on a formula that derives its ultimate level requirement. What does this mean?

  • Inner Strength cost
  • DPS
  • Duration
  • Reuse
  • Number of Secondary effects and durations

All play a part in determining the ultimate level of an ability. If you increase one aspect a different one needs to lowered, its all a balance.

I understand that you have this formula that you have used to come up with dps and balance abilities.  I ask you kindly to reevaluate this stance toward abilities.  My reasoning for this is that some abilities are really rendered worthless by this system.  Please put the focus on fun and feasibility or in this case usability.  Code shock used to be a powerful and scary ability.
