"The code is changing," RoninsGirl sounded out clearly over the channel. "They're all around you! Mercenaries!"

One by one, we fell to the sneaking Merovingian operatives. I felt their bullets pierce through the shielded clothing, ripping into me. Then everything went dark before seconds later opening my eyes, staring at the wall of the Hovercraft. "Send us back in," I grunted, "there isn't much time. We need to secure the Professor again!"

It was my own doing. I bartered with the Merovingian's people and it was I who told the Machines we could eliminate both Gillian and Cainine in one swoop. I was wrong and it was my own screw-up that forced everyone to suffer. I looked over at my Captain, then over at the Commander. Ian was wiping a trickle of blood away from the corner of his mouth, growling for revenge and honor. I knew then at that moment that we'd walked right into a trap. It was no longer my fault; deception sewn by Phallyn and his apparent employer. Not Lucite, as one would expect... Insertion....

In retrospect, I was feeling rather pensive about the situation. We'd gone into the simulation twice more that October night, dealing with the Assassins and Knife Throwers in near total darkness. We were blind, but not just physically. Our eyes had not yet been opened and now we can see. Determination brings focus, but desperation allows us to be driven to determination itself. I got over my failure by the sheer need to correct my mistakes. Mistakes Ronin paid for with their honor left disgraced.

Things have changed since that dark evening...

...Agent Purcell and I, we disposed of Professor Gillian. I would have rather done the deed myself, but it did not turn out as such. I am grateful that the Professor has been put away and prepared for his return to the Source. Resources maximized is one thing, but with the elimination of the Professor I am also alleviated of my responsibility to set things right. It isn't to suggest I wouldn't contribute if the mistakes weren't my own, but my obligation is fulfilled. It should be time to move on.

However, just as one threat is removed another is added. A member of the Demon Army was trying to protect the Professor and while his men were taken care of quite easily, there were unexpected visitors present. I'd fought them both before and while unprepared for their arrival I was able to sever their lines quite effectively with Purcell's assistance keeping the Exile occupied. Curious as to their identities? They're known Merovingian redpills, obviously. The renown Assassin, Tytanya, and a fellow Pistoleer Crieses. They put up a good fight, admittably better than most. Lucky for me, reloading wasn't a setback with the ammunition being pumped in directly by the Operator.

Mr. Carroll always finds the best to carry out his work, doesn't he? Inevitable. Insertion is going to have to do the work himself. It's something I've prepared for. No doubt he's probably got the bank account to manufacture a killcode if he wanted to. I'd personally rather end it with my hands wrapped around his throat, but that isn't exactly what I got with Gillian. I still have the balanced throwing blade Mr. Carroll had first lodged in my arm. A little reminder for keepsake, eh? Happy Holidays, Insertion.

I've still got a few Demons left, but they're not at all tired. It's about time I wore them out...

"RG," I chirped into my Boost Mobile [:p], "I need a refresher on tossing knives." It was time to live up to my handle.

Tough work taking on Tytanya and Insertion.

Sure you are up to it?

PS: Nice graphic novel format!

Thank you, Madbent. If you'd like to contact me regarding a combined effort, please look me up by fetish of email or cell. It wouldn't be the first time I've joined Morpheus' Legacy in a collaboration of skills.

Very cool post, but your chosen course will not end well for you, or your friends!

We are very alike, you and I. I choose to serve programs just like you do... Only those I serve are purveyors of order and reason, while those who you serve are merely out for themselves. As a preserver of order, I am ensured survival. You'll eventually be pulling the blade from your backside, Tytanya. Whether it's mine or those who employ you, that is your decision.

I look forward to our next encounter, mercenary.

Very cool story, and the pics just top it off, classic

But it will take more than a refresher on tossing knives to do what you're aiming for SMILEY
