Barakoa joins Viraconrida in performing liaison duties for us. I am sure that you will find him more than competent in his duties, my friends. Please extend to him your warmest welcome. -- Cryptos

Barakoa

"Hello brothers and sisters. My name is Vuai Shariff and I’ve been asked to present myself to you since we’ll have to work together from now on. However, don’t expect a nice story. This is not my life and I have no interest in bringing back the painful memories of my former self, but since it’s important for you to know where I really come from, I’ll try to give the main details.

"Before into getting in this Megacity urban hell, I was living in Zanzibar, off the coast of Tanzania. I was a political officer there, which job was to represent the interests of a community of tribes at the House of Representatives. So regularly, I had to travel between the capital and the villages to listen to people needs and hopes, and to make sure the government take those in account. This wasn’t an easy job. Dealing with people of various backgrounds, beliefs and origins requires excellent communication and organization skills. Just like being a father. In addition to this exhausting job, I had a large family of three wives and 16 children that constantly needed my support. My job required me to travel a lot, so I couldn’t be always there for them. I knew I wasn’t fulfilling both my engagements as a politician and a father, so the pressure and guilt made me feel very desperate.

"For a reason I ignore, my work however had been observed. I was contacted by an American man, telling me that my skills and dedication would be needed, but that I would have to exile from my current life. At this time, I didn’t saw the fatality of the offer, and I thought that anything that would get me out of these dark times would be good for me. I had accepted the call. A few days after, I consumed the icon of my downfall: a little red pill.

"I was recruited to work in the city of Zion, to act as an officer toward the inhabitants. Yes, the work was similar to my previous one, so it wasn’t too much of a challenge. However, I figured that I had lost everything that was mine to get to a similar life, but without the faces of adorable children when you come back, or the unquestionable love of a woman.

"I never cared about the Matrix. One world or another, it’s the same. In an electrical simulation or in flesh and bones, it’s the emotions that count. And it would be impossible for me to restart a new family to recreate the kind of emotions that kept me alive. All that was swept away and all that remained was anger toward my egocentrism and toward those that used me in my times of weakness to rally me to their cause. Yes, humanity might be in danger, but they didn’t tell that I would have to sacrifice my humanity for it.

"Recently, I got a meeting with a Zion officer that heard that I wasn’t satisfied with my choice. I thought he would punish me, but instead, he made me an offer. He was an undercover officer, following the Cypherite cause, which wants to undo all that was done by the massive redpill recruitment. He told me that if I was interested, I could switch sides and instead use my energies to prevent any other fiascos such as my case.

"So I accepted the call. I’ve joined the Cypherite cause, and has been appointed as a liaison officer for my skills in listening to others, and my interest in taking action. From now on, I shall be named Barakoa, masked in my native language. I might never get the life I had before, but at least, thanks to my work, Zion might never again kidnap someone’s existence. Armed with my anger and my guilt, I will prevent other families from being demolished."

I recall meeting you today, and if I recall correctly it was raining, and you didn't have any shoes on, rather strange I think.

And what of hearts beating and minds thinking ideals contrary to your own? Should you like their thoughts to go unaccounted for? Your words are as farcical as the Matrix itself. Your ideals are coded by those whose hands wish to remake you.
