Is there any plan to slow the rate of decay on items?

I know that sometimes when I take two points of falling damage, I lose a point of stability on something (usually one of my pandora or construct items, of course...), and it has occurred to me that I have been able to prevent stability loss on a grand scale thus far simply because I don't get hit very often. 45+ points of dodge ranged will do that.

Anyway, under the new system, we get hit a lot, though it is for 1 and 2 points of damage sometimes. However, stability loss isn't tied to damage, as far as I know. I believe it is simply tied to being hit and having a chance to lose stability each time you take a hit.

So... Before it becomes a problem, maybe whoever is doing items (Frog?) should take a look at it.

A very good question, Void. I'd like to see how the mechanics behind item stability loss is designed...

My clothing on QA has been taking a battrering, Keeping item decay in tune with the new hit rate might not go amiss

Very good point raised void, lets hope the devs realise this...

maybe, a new decaying system....
something that decays over a certain amount of time so a piece of clothing lasts for lests say 144hours before fully breaking (thats 144 hours with wearing it)?
do you know what i mean?

Better yet, just remove decay from Archive drops and PB box drops and perhaps even the exile hideout drops. Decay on decompilable/codable clothing is not so much a problem as it's not too hard to get it back but the other items... Probably best just to exempt them from that system altogether.

Maybe make it so that items can be repaired an infinite amount of times, much like other MMOs?

It would make the Repair Items ability a lot more useful...

I like that idea, Symmetric.

I agree. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Archive drops should either be able to be repaired indeffinitely, or not decay. Archives are flawed. They provide the best items in the game, at an extremely low drop rate, to the few people who are in that level range. Once they decay though, you can't go back there. A bad concept overall

EDIT: I also wanted to bring up collector items. Flawed as well. They decay and must be repaired, but you cannot trade them to a coder so he/she can repair it. This forces everyone to have and upgrade the repair items ability, not just coders.

I've also heard that item decay in MxO is useless, at least in contrast to its usefulness in other MMOs. Since there aren't any players forced into being dedicated to crafting and repairing items, there's no need to force items to decay. From what I understand, the only reason items decay in MMOs is so that crafters are kept in business. That's not an issue with the loadout system in MxO, and it just makes people unhappy, so the system should just be completely removed.

Did they add in the PB/Construct/Exile loot, yet?

Yeah. I meant I take damage on that stuff when I incur a few points of damage sometimes in the Live game.

Sorry for the confusion.

Exempting construct and PB drops from decay and decreasing the decay rate is essential. 5 months or a year down the line you're gonna be gettinga  lot of bitching once peoples seraphim shoes start dying off.

too true,  even if that means charging info for repairing items, that would be great
