Really Really Epic.. Too bad we won't experience it.
Agreed, I don't think I'd be able to trust anyone other than Rarebit with continuing this, it just wouldn't be able to live up to how it should be done, even if it did wrap up the main story.
I can't see anyone being brought in to help take the storyline forward. Rarebit releasing this a sure sign that the storyline will not continue anymore, in any official capacity anyway.
This would have been fun to see through, but I don't think it will have been that great under current storyline methods, the old LE method would have made this fun.
There are still many holes and unanswered questions, which will we will never fill, as it will never happen.
We should be more carefull with "finishing" storylines, especially epic ones like this, because once finished, one more reason for SOE to kill the Matrix. It's like "wanting" a movie to end. I can't have that. There can never be an end to the story.

I couldn't hep thinking about it this way too and that's why I didn't really want these outlines to be posted in the first place.
I just hope we both are completely wrong here. Particularly, because Rarebit said himself:
"So, please don't regard anything in this document as the true story of the Matrix Online, particularly anything past chapter 12.1"
*Cries.* Answers! Oh so many answers! *Sniffs.* It's beautiful.Man, it was getting really climactic in the last few chapters there. I wish, if we had to end, it could have ended there.Tonnes of info on the Oligarchs - awesome! I knew they'd become corrupted and arrogant over time, but I hadn't thought they might have been shifty from the beginning. And I certainly didn't imagine them having their own kingdoms and the like across the planet. I saw them as some community in a citadel somewhere, within the no-fly zone. Also lots of info on Neo and Trinity; I have to say it makes a lot of sense now.One thing I'm unclear on, however, is how Wright managed to do anything in the Real after her death by Sentinel. She transferred her mind into the Matrix, but how was she then able to overwrite Mauser both in the Real and the Matrix, and follow Carlyne onto his ship? I assume she must have transferred herself into Mauser's body in the Real (everything else follows on from that quite logically), but I can't think how.Apart from that, I can't think of any important loose ends. Good work!
I got excited reading what happens next. It seems very climatic and something I would have loved to experience.
:'(
Thank you so much for posting this! It would have been a blast to play through it all.

I don't like it.
Two Matrixes? Wasn't two Zions enough?
Also, no answers concerning Morpheus, Sarah Edmontons, the Novalis II, or anything from the past that we've been waiting so long for? Shimada's somehow alive, after having her jack pulled? Neo's supposedly still dead, yet somehow a woman with tons of steel rods shoved through her chest is alive?
*shrugs*
May just be me, but I don't like it.

Sounded pretty epic, especially leading up to the end with the gold halls, sky whiteout and matrix reset. What intrigues me the most is what would have happened between Man/Machine in the end. Obviously some sort of resolution to the war would've been had (what with man helping get rid of the machines most inherent flaw) but what? Some sort of collaboration on the new Matrix? Would've thought Zion wouldn't be too happy about the concept of any Matrix in general. But who knows, maybe they saw the importance of coexistance in the end.

With the resolution of the war, the next step could be the Machines and humans finally getting down to working together to clear the sky.

Since I'm departing, this particular version of the story has come to an end with chapter 12.1. Any future story will be in the hands of others and, I expect, quite different from the last chapters of the one so briefly sketched out here.
To me this seems to suggest that we may still get a story, but a different version of it. Anyone think this is possible?

I think it is and hope it will be.

Hard to see this being followed in game tbh.
