The trade off between SOE and WB is with Sony you get the security of knowing the game will be around forever and there's a possiblity that it will be fixed, but they cut the budget so what they fix is few and far between.  Do I have this correct?

Big companies also have big costs.  And, they know those costs could spin out of control rather easily, so they don't keep budgets high which is obvious by the game's patching.  Sony keeps them to a minimum and obviously worse than WBIE.

The SOE team has been just as active making fixes to MxO as Monolith was.

The big difference is that a) Sony has the resources to endure a short-term loss (there is no way this thing's making money with under 40k units sold) whereas Monolith would have had to shut down; b) Sony has more experience in the MMOG area and so has been applying that knowledge to MxO.

Of course Sony's a big company, and there's less of a labor of love thing as with smaller titles where the whole company is entirely focussed on one thing, like for example Eve Online.  However the MxO team is highly dedicated to The Matrix and MxO, and SOE keeps separate teams for each game.  It's not as if A_generic_programmer_01 gets up in the morning, goes to work, does some EQ coding in the morning and Planetside after lunch.

The Answer is evident now from what i can tell

The trade (if you can call it that) stability and integration with various SOE systems; as SWG and EQ(X) is updated it seems obvious (to me) that the majority of the game will be integrated with a common platform making bug fixes and updates generic and therefore farther reaching.

Sadly the payoff for this is the storyline, content, LET and any really feeling of being the whip cracking players who have any input in the game which i did feel a little with the monolith team. The cost of this has been hard felt with good friends and some serious RP and hardcore players leaving frustrated and fed up with no to little chance of returning after their experience of the transition.

As the voices of EQ generation's and SWG players comment on the game model and demand changes their massively outwaying numbers push emphasis of the devs in the majority view (if not their own) which may well push any of our wishes to the back of the queue (as they appear now AKA DN1's outdated state).

Moreover the low level story content to SWG (or so i have heard) is something new and interesting to the new players of the startwars styled mmo but for MXO the level of story and content will be thinned with no involvment from players in the story and little if next to no real LET experience.

Is it a good thing (i doubt it) but at least the game lives! for now

and what I can tell is SOE is getting ready for a marketting campaign?

withdrawing all the boxes and putting new ones (these Updated)

and possible advertisements in magazines and on their own sites

this indicates to me that they are getting ready to get more people to the game,

however more people means we need more servers AGAIN!

unless they make it so each server can hold like 100k players at any time, anyway only time will /t
