Well at least with the other processor if he fries it he'll have enough to get another, lol! To be honest I overclock the hell out of my computer and have no issues.

Haha, I agree, but some people want that warranty, or they don't plan on overclocking and just want the fastest. I currently have a FX-55 only because it was the fastest processor at the time, and back then the 64s didn't OC well (mine's an 130nm). My next is going to be a Opteron 170

OK got an idea get two 150 gig raptor drives for a total of around 500
dollars and then for your third drive get some 350 gig storage drive.
bout the same price your paying now for yours.

Personally I think that 1x 150G raptor, and 3x 400G drives is the best setup if he want's the space. Sure having Raptors in RAID is nice, but there's no real-world benefit (unless you're doing video-editing, or running a high traffic server). Every benchmark that I've seen on game load times with Raptors it's been the same for 1 drive or 2 RAID drives.

Double checking your list (I should have really looked it over better SMILEY), you should really look into buying 2 1GB sticks of memory instead of 4 sticks of 512. With the 4 sticks you're limited to a 2T command rate which is SLOW.

that aint 512 buddy, thats 4 sticks of 1gb EACH. so that comes out to around 4gb total

Sorry, then i misread :-/ The same principal holds true. You'll still be limited to a 2T command rate with the 4 sticks. Too bad sticks of 2GB DDR400 are so rare SMILEY Can't wait for socket AM2 and DDR2/Cheap 1GB+ memory! I ♥ AM2

Actually a dual-GPU card does exist (I think it's dual-7800 cores) from .. ASUS? may be mistaken.
There are no dual-7900 cards, and the dual-7800 that does exist cannot be run in SLI, and I think it also has to run in a specific motherboard. Custom PC did a small feature on it in the last few months, might dig it out when I get home later.

As for the system itself, it's kinda nice but you can get much more performance for much less IME.

The case is nice, though I've never heard of it. Are you sure the 'air conditioning' is so much better than a cohesive air-cooling solution that it warrants a $100+ hike in price over other top-range cases?

There's nothing particularly *wrong* with the processor, though you'd be much better off waiting for Intel to release their Conroe chip which will be much faster, cooler and use less power. I've been using AMD for years, but if it's all about the fastest performance then you have to simply go for the best components regardless of brand.

Motherboard is reasonable IMO - I'm using an ASUS board and it's a solid piece of kit.

Corsair is good memory, but 4GB? Do you really need that much? Unless you're going to be 3D modelling or something of that magnitude, 4GB is just a useless e-peen extension. 2GB, 2.5GB tops I would go for.

You can get far better drives than the Western Digitals.

Graphics card is nice - I have a BFG 7800GT and it's great. Though with 2 of them there won't be much opportunity to fit many other expansion cards inside. I have a single card and it's already a limiting factor.

The X-Fi is a nice card - I just got one, but you can save a bit of money by not getting the Fatal1ty and just getting the Platinum.
The Fatal1ty has X-RAM but in current games it hasn't proven to make much of a difference - if any difference at all, and there's no concrete assurance that game devs will make full use of it in the future. They still have to play to the common denominator of consumer components.
If you don't even need the breakout box, save even more and get the XtremeMusic.

I've never heard of Ultra Powersupplies.
Tagan or Seasonic are proven heavyweights. It makes 0% sense to spend thousands on a PC then put a **bleep**ty PSU in the back of it. Pay extra for extra quality and assurance.

Can't see why you need all those screens honestly O_o
The Samsung monitors are pretty 'meh' - only 8ms response time for a 17" panel?
Get some Dell 20" 2001FPs, or some of their swanky new widescreen models.
Same with keyboards ... AFAIK you can only use one keyboard at a time in any one system so I'm confused.

Yes they did, but it was just a prototype, never went into production. Same with Gigabyte's? 6800 series dual GPU card. Thus why I added the 7900 qualifier SMILEY

I'm all AMD, but I'd agree. Unless AMD has some trick up their sleeve with AM2 (which it seems they don't) K10 will be their only hope.

With a dual-core CPU I don't think that 4GB is uncalled for. Excessive, yes, but too much no.

All I'm going to say is I've seen numerous dead Seagate and Maxtor drives. I have yet *nockonwood* to see ONE dead WD drive...

From what I've read Ultra-X makes OK powersupplies. Personally I've never heard of Tagan or Seasonic...
PC Power & Cooling is my choice =D

You didn't notice...it's a Matrix setup. 2001FPs would pwn. My friend got one of the 22" widescreen models and says that it's perfect. It's possible to use more than one keyboard, there's not really any need for more than one, but once again he's going for a Matrix setup here.

More money than sense then, no offence to Warboy SMILEY
I have a Dell 2001FP and it is the bees knees, dogs danglies, whatever you want to call it SMILEY
Their new 30" widescreen looks hawt <3

I've seen dead Maxtor and IBM (though now Hitachi with better performance) drives, but always had a pretty good experience with Seagate.
I was mistaken with my 'much better' comment, I think I was thinking of Maxtor >_< (a company my dad used to work for had a delivery of 25 of those drives - all dead O_O)

Tagan/SeaSonic might be more European, but Tagan for sure has come out on top in most, if not all, Power Supply group tests I've seen.

AMD procs aren't bottlenecked by memory bandwidth like the Pentium 4s are - at present AM2 only offers a benefit when you start talking about more cores-per-chip. Unless you're building multi-processor servers, Conroe will be the market leader until AMD's next-gen chip comes about (2007?)

Wait for it.....I got another thing you should check out. You're gonna need a cool keyboard for that system. This is the keyboard I plan on buying about a year from now.

http://www.artlebedev.com/portfolio/optimus/

Let me give you a brief description:

"Every key of the Optimus keyboard is a stand-alone display showing exactly what it is controlling at this very moment."

Meaning when you run Photoshop, the keys on the keyboard become the shortcut keys for Photoshop.  You hold shift, and key displays go from lower case to upper case and the numbers become the symbols. This is not another keyboard...this is THE keyboard. You can thank me later. SMILEY

BTW, he's a tease of the programable shortcut keys. When you change IE for example to Firefox, the icon will change on the keyboard SMILEY

I know....I find all the cool stuff.
