It's not Vista's fault, it's not Nvidia's fault - it is old (somewhat dubious) code designed for XP, and a failure to upgrade it accordingly.  Vista is not a new thing anymore and it is the dominant OS being installed on all the new laptops and systems these days.  XP will be phased out just as Win98 did before it.  Failure to adapt the game to the changes of the computer world is no excuse.  Nvidia cards also are not new and change quickly from one card to the next - as they continue to push the threshold of the virtual world, gaming industry. Players shouldn't have to be stuck with and old OS and outdated cards just to be able to play 1 game.  From a marketing standpoint, this goes against all logic.  And the sales point - not just the art is the first and foremost important thing.

They may not even be able to fix it. From what I remember, this isn't their graphics engine: it was licensed from another company. In either case the Devs that worked on it are long gone, so whoever is tasked with looking into its faults is going to have to learn the structure of the entire engine.

I think DarkHawk does make some valid points.   While the new trinkets and whatnot are, in some cases, very nice, there are still issues within the gameplay that need attention, like clothing stacking, enemies leaving mission areas and breaking/out of line interlock animations to name just a few.  These are glaring issues that both bother the vets and turn off new comers in one fell swoop.  There are also things like bringing back the old combat animations and reworking the faction controls, to name a couple, which would be positive changes/enhancements that wouldn't be bug fixes but also would be a lot more impactful than fancy new t-shirts.

Those things do need to be fixed. But it's a question of manpower. Quite simply, they don't have it. And as Rarebit says, halting the production of new clothing items and fixing textures isn't going to free up manpower to fix these other issues: Rarebit doesn't have the technical expertise to deal with these problems. That's where Dracomet and NoRepro/9mmFu come in.

Edit: The game engine is Lithtech Discovery, based on Lithtech 2.2 - obviously made by Monolith. But still, as I said, the people who worked on that are long gone. It's not a simple matter of scanning the code for a quick fix to the Vista problem.

One thing I have also noticed with this patch, the god awful Enrage sound effect is still there, if people are just going to stand around a HL, you dont need it, take it off!

Here is what I've learned about Vista. Its bugged.

As for the update, I love it! I don't need a ton of fixes, I've talked to many people about how / what happened to this game from the get go and in this time there is one thing I've learned,  Enjoy what you have.

Great work Devs keep up the good work

Peace,
McB.

Yeah, this is one change I really dont like.  With the normal collector's, the items you need to make the trade are tradeable, but with Binary Boy and Fumigator the Decaying Codes and Soldier parts aren't tradable at all, so once you have started, you are completely stuck with that gender.

If they stuff we make the trade with isn't tradeable to other players, then allow us to pick up either gender.

While we're at it why dont we just make every item in mxo non-tradeable.  Cause that makes about as much sence as stopping the cross gender trades

Please. Tell me: Why in god's name would you want to make things more difficult in obtaining items like Headgear? It's already the most tedious farming process in the game. It's not as if by lengthening the process more, more people are going to farm out the item on their own instead of having someone do it for them. They're just not going to attempt it at all.

Please stop breaking my Matrix. =[

Eh? Am I missing something here? The Soldier Parts and Taskmaster Heads and such have no gender. You keep collecting them and then at the end you trade them in for an areaK of...

Oh. I see. You can still trade the areaK jacket, but only to people of the same gender as you, 'cos that's the only one you're able to get.

Its just a bug, Rarebit has said that they altered the traders in Update 53 so it wont allow you to get the rewards of the opposite Gender, everyone got a bit confused from the wording that Raijinn and 9mmfu used.  SMILEY

Hopefully there will be a fix in Update 55

Does this mean they'll get rid of the gender replacement trades on PB?

So...when are the lag issues going to be fixed?

Seriously, I'm tired of being picked off by reds due to a lag spike that lasts 5 mins

What lag issues?  If you're experiencing any lag there's good odds it's something on your end.
