So, I'm pvp in mara and I get to thinking that Silenced weapons serve no benifit as it is.   I get to thinking and it would be really really cool if the silenced weapons would have a chance to keep you stealthed, what ever your method of stealthing is, Invis, Escape and evasion, Regular Stealth, Disguise, etc...

Now im not proposing this with out some cost, the cost could be damage or accuracy or recharge, either way, having a chance to stay concealed when using silenced weapons would be a great addition.

Thoughts? Keep it civil or i will pwn joo.

The purpose of the silenced weapons are that they keep your Agent meter down while shooting them in a restricted area.  When you shoot regular weapons in a restricted area, it increases the chance of an Agent showing up.

 

Not many people know about that.  SMILEY

well, thats a crappy purpose. Noone cares about agent meters these days as they are noobs and easy to avoid. We want real use from them!

I like your idea though.  I'd love if silenced weapons gave you a chance to remain stealthy.  It makes sense.

That, and Ive noticed that silenced weapons carry their own brand of buffs as compaired to the enhanced weapon types. And they look cooler.


 


Anyone remember when silenced werent actually silenced? :smileytongue:

Its why I load up sniper ability and shoot people from rooftops, no one can see it :smileyhappy:

They're also good for keeping the mob aggro down, or the Zerg aggro down. SMILEY

Well, it does have some kind of purpose in pvp. Personally, I use sounds to identify where someone is sniping from (whether it be guns or hacks) when I can't use my autotarget hotkey in a crowd of red names. Someone with a silenced weapon makes something like that pretty difficult.

yeah the silenced guns are mostly about NOT attracting more mobs while youre out in the field. very useful when we were all level 29 and such. as for the OP's idea, good stuff. make no changes to dmg or accuracy tho, it makes no sense to do that and it would just cause more nerf drama. ask renesis all about nerf drama. hah =D

 

anyway, yeah, increase the reload on silenced weapons IF a particular ab is being used or if you are stealthed.. make it skip a reload, which will double it. thatll keep things nicely balanced cuz some of those sniper rifles are horribly slow and flip in like 5secs or more. so skipping a 'turn' will keep things sane. ta da. i should be a dev.

Why should a silenced rifle shoot faster? Rifles seem pretty balanced to me.

For balance, sniper rifles with this ability would more then likely have to be toned down in damage just a little bit. (a 50 gun with a 10-12 damage )

Plus as any FPS player can tell you, silenced weapons do less damage SMILEY (mostly cause of some speed loss)

AKA, this makes sense!
