Don't try this at home, kids!

After spending several hours installing Windows and Parallels, the moral of the story here is: stick to Boot Camp for games.

I dunno - that tie-dye effect has some potential! SMILEY

Just curious--because I am a curious person--in the settings, would that be the result of the over-bright filter?  I'm wondering, if you haven't wiped that out already, if the effect would clear itself if you remove the color filtering...

Don't know, wiped the VM as soon as I actually got it working. Performance is horrible...DirectX acceleration in Parallels is still "alpha" quality, was just checking to see how well it really worked.

On the plus side, the game runs great under Boot Camp. SMILEY

No big deal--I was just wondering.  But if the performance sucks, who cares about fixing the look? SMILEY

Still, good to know all this, and thanks for posting the screen.

I think I'll give VMWare Fusion a shot in the near future. Apparently they're much further along with DirectX support.

Nice work, but ouch... I feel your pain.  SMILEY

Having boot camp is one of the smartest things Apple has done in years regarding Macs and just general hardware sales. Even if people hate OS X or don't like the limited performance capabilities of the OS X gaming/graphics subsystem we can still go, "Hey, cool Mac, I'll get one." and not have to give up anything.

I'm impressed by the work in Parallels, especially for initial DirectX support for casual apps, but as you note, thank goodness for Boot Camp.
