Hi there!

New to the game, and just wanted to know how's it about RP on the Vector Hostile Server?

Found an old thread about this, and a list for RPvP.

Now my question, how is the RP on Vector really today? Much? Less? Only on events? Sometimes?

Don't have Problems with PvP (makes it more 'real' I think), but I definitve want to join a server with Role Play (not only fight for no reason and so on)...

(playing on Vector at the moment, just don't know if I'm right there)

Perhaps you can give me some infos.

Thanx for any reply!

Best Regards
Dante

Um, there's really not a lot of RP that goes on on Vector to tell you the truth. Some factions will say that they do RP, but it's nothing in comparison to what you'd find on recursion or syntax.

It's pretty much about the PVP here, which is love it or hate it i guess.

The most RP you'll find here occurs at the Live Events, so pretty much only every so often.

I'll add on aswell that people do make efforts to get little RP events going, it's not particularly my scene, unless it's an event. But there are efforts sometimes.

Welcome to MxO.

Well, you're presented with quite the quagmire.

Vector is as 'real' as it gets on MxO.  From level sixteen, you're permanently susceptible to PvP, whereas on Syntax and Recursion, you have to type /pvp in order to manually 'flag' (become susceptible to PvP, which wears off after five minutes of being combat free).  As has been said, Vector's overbearing focus is PvP, with a minority interested in RP.  The RP that does occur, however, is usually relatively isolated.

On the other hand, Syntax and Recursion are essentially split down the middle.  Syntax has been referred to unofficially as the 'RP server', though I've seen no more evidence of that than on Recursion.  There's just as much, if not arguably more PvP on those servers (simply because people tend to stay away from the main PvP area on Vector if they don't have others from their organization to even up the odds.  On the other servers, you can hang around the main PvP area freely, and PvP breaks out more readily), but as it's a choice, you don't get that feeling of immersion as you do on Vector.  Here, you have to eternally watch your back, and be wary of going near other players at all times.

It really depends on what your main focus, or interest is in.  There's plenty of PvP on the non-hostile servers, as well as RP.  However, Vector is more immersive, and if you can locate some RP then you have the best of both worlds.  The RP's just a little harder to find.

Hope this helps, Dante.

The non hostile servers have to put up with Blue-PVP though which ruins allot of things in my eyes. It can also be said that many don't flag there unless they have the numbers so on non pvp they don't flag unless numbers on vector they lurk till they have numbers. Granted not everyone does that, some fight no matter the odds.

I think allot of the RP on vector is purely negotiation and diplomacy. Because you can be attacked at anytime you have to use your wits both on the battlefield and off it. Some do RP in non event things but it's usually between the battles and can be interrupted by a red. So if your RP is more combat based then great, otherwise long 2 hour RP sessions on a bench may run into issues.

Now, I don't know how RP is now, but when Enumerator was still a child, RP was what it should be [IMO!] in the Matrix.  Like said, it was diplomacy, truces, negotiations, meetings.  We had guards so Zion wouldn't bust it up, and lookouts for Zion spies.  That's about as deep as it went, but that was as deep as it needed to be.  The Matrix is not a DnD type game.  It's a game based around a future war, kinda set in the presentish future.  The players help build ON the story, we don't build the story.

IMO, if you want true to the Matrix feel... go with Vector.
