From the post itself. As long as SOE keep their grubby mits of development and Customer Support, It'll be fine.

That what the producers of Vanguard said first, but then they ran out of money and gave the game to SoE, let's hope Flying Lab has enough money to see this through to the end.

The "Big Dog" over at FLS has stated that they are fine financially and won't suffer the same fate as Vanguard. Something about where they get there money or something, I dunno the details. Long story short, PotBS is not an SOE game. It's an FLS game being Platform Published by SOE and it should stay that way.  SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" />

Until the mysterious - "OMGWTF WHERE ALL MY MUNNIES GO!?!??!" happens as the head guy at SOE kicks up his feet sulking in his perpetual, stereotypical, and manipulative bad-guy overcast shadow.

If SOE assumes control of the developmental aspects of Pirates, I don't know if I'll keep with it. It looks to me like one of those games that really has creative potential like MxO, but can be overlooked by the masses. If that happens, it'll suffer the same fate.

You know...that is quite the interesting arrangement for a game.  One can only begin to imagine how things may have been different if The Lith kept all rights to development, support, blah blah..for MxO and let SOE do their thing with marketing, distribution, etc..

Let's hope it works out, I like the concept, and in theory it sounds like it fixes a lot of what may have gone wrong (or not, depending on your point of view) with the full SoE takeover of MxO.

LOL, I loved this QA on their sight

" I hate SOE and I will never play your game.
That’s okay. I’m sure there will be people who play our game and then hate it anyway. We can’t make everyone happy but I can make you this promise: if Pirates isn’t good, if you don’t like how the game is designed, or how the servers are operated, or how we interact with our community, it’ll be our fault, not SOE’s. We own the game and the buck stops here."
