Greetings , I am writing this post because of a unexpected severe problem that has been coming up while patching/updating MxO.

I have played MxO a long time ago , since the premier of the game in Poland. Shortly after reaching Lvl. 25 I have un-installed the game , but I have wanted to give it a second chance the moment I read about the "Combat Revision 2.0".

Since I lost the cd's that are required to install the game , I have manually downloaded the MxO Game Client from some random site. I bought a monthly subscription and then entered the login and password on the launchpad.

Here is were my problem appears : after only a couple of minutes of patching / updating ( once it lasted for about an hour and filled nearly half of the bar ) a message comes up " Patch system error ( result code -4 ) "

Let me type you everything thats in the box ;
Patching v7.5628: 1401.7MB, 2644 Files...
Patch system error ( result code -4 ).

After that message , the update bar isn't progressing anymore.

Since I am a game subscriber I would like to request help.

I need more information because I don't have any details of what patch error -4 is.

If you load the launcher again and then wait until you get the error. When you do, close the launcher and go to the directory the game is installed in. In there you will find a file called launchererrors.txt and a file called patchctrl.log.

Could you post the contents of launchererrors.txt and the end of patchctrl.log and we'll get a better idea of what the error is. SMILEY

Slow Patching or Problems with Patching:

In the vast majority of cases, this is due to a connection issue that is preventing the server  from sending you the information you need to complete the patching process.  The first thing to try is to  make sure that you are not running any programs on the taskbar. If the problem persists, you should try  running under a clean boot as this will prevent any hidden programs from loading:

To disable background programs:

1.Select the START button.

2.Select RUN.

3.Type in "msconfig" (without the quotes)

4.Press OK

5.Select the STARTUP tab.

6.In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please  note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just disable all.

7.Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try to patch again.

If you are on a router you can review some of the most commonly used routers/firewalls and how to set them  up from the below links. Keep in mind we do not support routers/firewalls/proxies/NATs etc. You will need  to consult the included technical manual that came with your hardware/software or contact the manufacterer  of the device or software.

In order for the game servers to communicate with your game client reliably, firewalls and routers may  need to be configured to allow traffic on TCP ports 80, 5190, 11000, and 10000. It will also need to allow  the program to communicate on UDP ports 10000 and 11000.

Try This Method Below:

Full System Scan is a 2 stage process, did you follow the procedure listed here? : http://forums.station.sony.com/mxo/..._id=12400011161

 Or this:

Directional:

In MxO directory there will be a file(s) called ClientErrors_0 and as many as the errors you get the, higher the number gets.

But if you find those in you directory after the time outs or crashes please post it. It might help. But remember I am not a professional. : P

At first I would like to thank you for your help. I searched for the files you mentioned , unfortunately while launchererrors.txt proved to be completely empty , patchctrl.log seems to be missing. I  am currently downloading  what seems to be a more  official client of MxO.

I will write back
Thanks in return

It seems like the previous update error I encountered was the fault of the game client I downloaded. After I downloaded what seems like a more reliable version of the MxO game client , the updating process smoothly reached completion.

Thank you for your help ,

Sincerely yours , Krystian Zagajewski.

Glad you got it sorted! SMILEY

Out of curiosity, where did the other client you originally installed come from (as really it shouldn't have made any difference!)

Unfortunately I cant really tell you because I don't remember and cant find that website. The game client I originally used looked like a older client version. I can also add that it downloaded about thrice the speed.
