Operatives, I am pleased with the way you handled Carlyne. The information you obtained from him regarding the condition of Halborn's body will no doubt be of use. Efficientemente, Agent Pace System Liaison

So Halborn is dying and is looking for a cure in here. Seems like whatever he's dying from is also affecting his mental state.

H'mm. I'm not sure I believe Carlyne. Either Halborn isn't crippled in the slightest and has other plans for the interface, or Carlyne himself is suffering from the same condition and is just as desperate.
I can't think of a motivation for him to lie, though, so I'll leave it at that.

During the Cinematic Carlyne did say to Hellborn that they are in competition to find the Biological Interface Program, so who knows at this point.

Sounds like a cause worth aiding to me, or at least, one more worthwhile than whatever the conniving Thing Two is up to in here. But if the Machines didn't lie to him and he can't detatch from this place, that means we'd have to get it for him. ...But that could easily be worthwhile if he'd tell us how to pull of his little trick here.

So it's Halborn's particular problem that leads him to do this according to Carlyne.
Carlyne is here to stop Halborn.
What exactly is there to "research" then?
He's after the same thing - and is either telling the truth in a feeble attempt to sway opinion while masking his own motives or he is just out right lying.
Either way, I still say they are from the "source."
What is it he said... "quite a lovely program they have here."
As if it is a novelty...
again if you look at how Z10N is spelled in the movies... its not z i o n - it's Z 1 0 N
2 Matrixes - these two are from the "real world" or the source.
They are apart of an agreement - not all of humanity is enslaved - this is why the power supply thing doesn't work.

The disability thing mentioned by Carlyne could well be truth as the "man watching TV" in the cinematics was always seen sitting down, maybe he is bound to his chair as he watches events unfold, accompanied by weird robots crawling across his screen.
Question is if these guys aren't podborn or awakened by Zion, how long havew they been out there in the real and how have they survived well all those years?

An intriguing turn of events... though it certainly doesn't answer all of the questions we've been presented with, it's a decent enough jumping off point. Excellent work fellow Machinists.

The answers we managed to get were pleasing, though I'd agree with Proc that to follow Carlynes word blindly would be stupid. However, for the present time there is no real harm in accepting the help he gave us and taking those answers on board. One thing is for sure, Carlyne does seem equally adept at dodging certain questions when asked, as Halborn is.

Hrm... he mentions being fitted out to work with different equipment. that could mean that they are:
- from a newer version of the matrix
- from an older version of the matrix
- fitted out to run other machine equipment (external to the matrix or even experimental systems - new or old)
Given that Halborn is seeking a bilogical interface program (as is Carlyne aparently) I'd say that they have been selected for their exceptional abilities and seem to be attempting to put their mind into the body of someone else or even a machine in order to escape their confines.
So it would appear that Carlyne (a female name BTW, derived from Carolyne) witnessed the machine attack on Stallingrad, and Halborn (Hal - born = computer born? also there was Halborn of Rivendel in LOTR) was the one researching Neo in the cinematic.

This sounds like a good assumption to me, but they're using different approaches. Halborn wants it now, and will take it by force. Carlyne appears more patient and is trying to sweet-talk us into helping him for the same purpose. This could also be supported by Halborn's comment of not trusting him.
