Viral Accuracy - Yup that time again

Alright you guessed it...

What's the deal with Viral Accuracy?  I've got *CENSORED* loads of MA's just bouncing my hacks off of them left and right while they casually stroll down the street.  Yeah that's right they just stand there look at me wave, and either walk (yeah walk) towards me or away from me.  While I continue to bounce 80%+ of my hacks off of them. 

Now with my upgrade attacks running and the right build I can get my Viral Accuracy to the 260 yellow max and above and still the hacks just bounce.  Now post all you want about how MA's are the hackers bane or whatever...  Personally I don't give a crap.  If I can kick my accuracy up that high and remmeber it's for a short amount of time, I should be hitting alot more than I am. 

... And yes it's not just MA's, I've been having fits with MKT's as well, which hackers shouldn't have that much problems with.  I'm just if a properly stated MKT can get his defense up enough to bounce my hacks like these MA's are but I can't in turn get enough accuracy for that short burst of time to counter it... Well let's just say

Yeah, I had this problem too.

I was dueling with a fac mate last Thursday night and, during one duel, he deflected every single hack I threw at him. I had launched Upgrade Attacks, and sent one hack right after the other and none of them hit.

We started another duel to test the problem. I tried to repro and most (if not all) of the hacks went through this time. We tried it a third time so that I could check my viral acc (which was at something like 242) and I missed everything again.

I think he was running an SMG/UM load. Now, I got no problem with increasing one's defense and deflecting hacks. But when my viral acc is that high and I still can't hit anything something is wrong.

I hope someone has the time to figure out the repro for this and report it. It has to be a bug, because if the chance modifier can screw up a hacker that bad, it would cause me to reconsider playing that class at all.

You know, my sister was running this character until about lvl 25 or so when she decided that she had to spend time doing other things and during that time she was working on hacker. Now, I know that I'm not a lvl 50 in it at all, yet it was my understanding that your attacks hit based (basically) on your accuracy against someone's defense.

Ok, so reading some of the developers comments about how everyone has a chance to hit eachother on cr2 and so on, I'm going on the equal inverse of that and saying everyone had a chance to just miss.

Yet, even with being generous and saying that, should a player who has (at lvl 30) 85pts accuracy have their attacks blocked by someone who had their defense at 78pts? The hacker should hit every time.

Now, I know that a lot of you lvl 50 hackers can get your accuracy up really high right? So it doesn't really make sense if players are blocking all your attacks if their defenses just aren't that high

(mind you, there's going to be another arguement about what state both you and your opponents were using along with this but eh, can't win everything)

Basic Kung Fu/Karate loadout gives +18% to Viral defense from abilities.
Sakura Bandana, Area K, Quicksilver's and the MA Acc shirt give +15% to viral defense.
Attributes give +50% to viral defense.

Total: +83% to Viral defense

On Aikido with Hyper Deflect your viral defense will be near +190, put on some Viral Defense pants and you've capped your viral defense. On grab or block it makes it very possible to deflect attacks made with UA running.

The only bug I can think of to do with Viral Acc is where people "Resist" your viral attacks. It very specifically says that they resisted your attacks, you don't even get a little bubble around them as if they deflected it, it's as if your attacks didn't even happen.

So, were they "Resisting" or deflecting everything?

Talk to CPUMaggot on Recursion. I don't think I deflected one hit from her last night, and I had my viral defense up as high as I could take it with clothes.

The reality is the cap of Viral Acc can be reached as well as the cap for Viral Def and I can say absolutely that the cap for Viral Acc is significantly higher than Viral Def.

As with all things in the Matrix what are you willing to give up to have a capped Viral Acc? The choice is always yours.

I agree..  I statted to MA because even with my acc at highest too much was bouncing.. in a team if the the howitzer debuffs the other hax has a chance..

I've had it against Players too.

Well that's what I'm saying old man... I've got an all out viral accuracy loadout and all out viral accuracy clothing loadout and still even with that I was bouncing things like crazy.   I know that MA's are suppoused to be resistant to hackers and I've got no problem with that.  In fact I think I was the one who said that Serene Calme and the hyper-deflect should stack, and they should. 

However, it seems like it's way to easy for these guys nowadays to be able to just throw up any type of MA build and be untouchable by a hacker.  In that same theme I should therefore be able to run with just about any of my hacker builds and be untouchable by MKT's. 

I'd say if it has to be left as is then give me something to counter it.  Make some of my abilities that for some reason debuff melee and balistic defense/resistance debuff viral intead.   Like Miasma, overload, overheat etc. 

I mean come on when a Single MA can jump into a group of 2-3 hackers and systematically kill one after another something is wrong.  Or when they are so *CENSORED* confident and cocky that they can stroll /walk up to you why you waste your IS on them with full viral accuracy.... Well that kind of crap shouldn't be happening in game.  No one tree should be untouchable against another

With hackers currently still being able to do the "infinite chain" trick in IL (people from the QA server know what I mean) and having high damaging areals as they do and debuffs I wouldn't complain. I am a MA and the only time a hacker misses 80% of the time or a bit more is when I am on block and aikido, so this doesn't look like something special to me. With max atts on any tree on block tactics with a tree with bonus defence this will occur.

Heh.. I block her's all the time.  Even with RSIs that weren't 50 yet.   The system isn't completely random.. but there is a lot of randomness in it.

 

Just pop her shield.. she'll go away.

Well, by this reasoning, Fu, if we elect to give up, say, damage influences, then our accuracy should be great while our damage sucks. Right?

The problem that we are outlining here is that we are choosing to give up other things, like damage modifiers, in order to cap out our accuracy so that we can hit more. Unfortunately, something is wrong and we don't get anything for our sacrifice. So, if the answer remains "The choice is always yours" well...that's just not good enough, obviously.

  Broin, for one thing I know I pissed you off a bit but tbh it was 4-5 on 1 and I didn't see the point in fighting. So I popped what def I could and block tactics and tried not to die.  MKT's and gunmen were missing a fair bit too. However, you and Illface could not touch me. Nor could I touch you - as soon as I fought I got ganked, I could only just get ILL in 1v1 and even then I died too.  Think of it like loading master shadow......
