Now, I see no topic regarding this despite the fact I was told there were plenty of posts about it, and despite my trying I haven't been able to find any either so I figured I'd pop one up myself. What's the worst that could happen?

Anyways onto the topic itself, I was told this was a quick and by far the easiest way to gain XP, but so far I've noticed anything but. Mainly as it still involves combat. I haven't seen a mission yet that didn't promptly tell me to go kill someone to get an item, so... what gives exactly?

Are Spy's sneak attacks really strong enough to take out an orange-con one on one in the first hit alone? o_O So far I haven't been willing to go on such a seemingly suicidal mission so I've been sticking to Tiny/Medium Assassination missions...

Now I'm not 100% sure this is the right forum to put it in, I was wondering if maybe this belongs in chara development but when I think about it, it's more asking how to use Spy then good ways to get XP, so... this seems more like the right place to me.

It used to work good before they nerfed pretty much everything.

I do Tiny/Hard Assassination missions, I find that the best for XP, especially if you can team up with a level 50.

Hrm, I tried a hard mission period and found it borderline impossible to handle alone. Bluntly put, I lost half my life in two hits against an MAer, I wasn't about to stick around and wait for a Hacker to pull something. But Medium missions aren't giving bad XP right now either. How much XP do Hard missions get compared to Medium?

You do get quite alot more xp for doing hard missions than medium. I don't know what level you are but hard missions become easier to handle at level 10 so do medium missions at the lower levels.

maybe they've changed it since
i last grinded the spy way but in the past at least the majority of
retrieval/courier/infiltration missions allowed u to avoid any combat
wotsoever, usually featuring two or three parts mostly involving either
"searching a mainframe" "acquiring a mission item" and "placing that
mission item." i dint run into too much trouble, in fact the only
really annoying missions were where u had to get the item from a
contact and they refused to interact with u until u killed everyone.
(for the infiltration purists, that meant aborting the mission)
although u couldn't immediately verify if that would be the case since
about half the time u instead had to reach someone in a locked room,
and assuming u have open locks abil u dint need to kill anyone. u may
want to try calling the missions in different neighborhoods or
districts?

*EDIT personally i have to say i prefer the "kill everyone" method
approach to missions. sure, if u get a gd rhythm going and are lucky, u
can lvl v fast using the infiltration no-kill method but u miss out on
a gd chunk of $inf from killing certain mission mobs. on average i
would say u can get double the $inf from the mission reward from
looting mission mobs. (sometimes u get bleh $inf but often enough u get
$200+ which is so sweeeeet)

Alright... so any tips on running good ol fashion Assassination/Kill everyone that moves missions? I tried a Hard mission and nearly instantly died, and for some reason Medium missions still give me ALOT of trouble if I get more then one hacker on me at once. Mainly because I have to stand there trying to interlock repeatedly which gives them more free hits then I care to count.

well, wot lvl are u? from yr
post i assume yr main fighting build is MA? MAs have it rough until
they're high enough lvl to be able to quickly use certain combinations
of special abils to cream orange con mission mobs. to be honest i never
really missioned with MA until i was already above L45. so i would
defer to other ppl on the boards to give u advice on missioning as MA.

if u use ranged attacks, either as a gunman or hacker, it's mainly
about shooting/hacking through doorways and at angles to make sure u
only engage one mission mob at a time. when u enter a mission area,
first see if there are any ppl u can kill from the elevator. this is
assuming u have an attack that stuns/roots/pacifies. then explore teh
mission area and look for the patrolling mission mobs. usually there's
only one so try to engage the mob in a room alone and u should be fine.
now tackle the mobs who stay in their particular rooms. stand to either
side of the door to a room and open it, then swing yr camera view
around towards the door to get a feel for where the mission mobs are
standing. wait until one is in the line of sight of the door (and only
one) then step into the door's line of sight (but not at the doorway,
stand back and ideally angle yrself to minimize the chance that other
mission mobs in the other room may see u. attack, then pull back away
from retaliatory striking distance and see if the mob runs out of the
room to chase u. if so, lead the mob far away enough to ensure u won't
be disturbed and take im out. rinse and repeat. once u've gotten rid of
the mobile mobs, use the same angling trick to single out the static
mobs. attack one until u get em or until yr badly injured, then duck
away from the door's line of sight and sit down. the mobs won't heal as
fast as u so u will eventually be able to take em all out by attrition.

all this gets a *lot* easier for hackers once they have stun and in
general gunmen should be okay since ops can take a bit of damage. gd
luck!

Hmm, maybe I should try Gunman sometime then... o.O

I'm still not used to a system where you can so quickly and easily change your skills. XD

Just wait until you master macroing the /savelo and the /loadlo commands.  then, if you get a kill phase during a mission, you can, at a click, reload your skills to Gunman at a nearby hardline, then switch back to Spy for the rest of the Infiltration.

/savelo NAME1  - saves current ability loadout
/loadlo NAME1 - loads the loadout called NAME1

/macro NAME1 /loadlo NAME1 - creates a hotbar button called NAME1 that will load the loadout called NAME1

VERY useful. SMILEY
