The Drop

It was a sunny day in the Mega City. People going about their business. Mrs. Green was watering her tulips in the flower box across the bustling street. Chatter of girls playing hopscotch on the sidewalk. The sound of car horns echoing in the distance. A long black sedan eases to the curb just outside Mr. Parson's clock shop. A well-dressed man in heavily starched business suit steps out of black sedan. The man circles to the other side of the automobile, opening the suicide door of the long car for another man riding in the rear.  The silhouette of two men can be seen through the cloudy windows of the storefront of the clock shop. The two men pause to straighten their ties before stepping towards the storefront. Sound of a metal bell jingles from atop of the door, momentarily stopping the first man while he glares at the bell in distain. The two men enter the store and stand just short of a heavily scared wooden counter. Just beyond a large brass cash register sat a broad shouldered man working away diligently as if he heard no one enter. "Good afternoon Mister Parsons..." said the first well dressed man in an overly loud tone. "Oh... I hadn't noticed the weather today. Just work, work, work, here..." said Mr. Parsons. "Mister Parsons, we have a job for the Clock Maker." Mr. Parsons slides a dirty cloth over a shadowed item on his bench. Mr. Parsons slowly turns his head to see Agent Gray standing at his counter. "Oh hello Agent Gray. I'm sorry I didn't recognize your voice. What can I do for you?" Mr. Parson's walks slowly to counter as if he had been sitting for a long while. "Mister Parsons we do not appreciate your affiliation with your other business partners." said Agent Gray. "Now... now... you tell me that every time you come in here. You already know that I am strictly a businessman and I do very good work for you. Besides you know my business is doing very well since the "Truce"." "Mister Parsons we would like for you to work for us exclusively." said Agent Gray. "Well Agent Gray you drive a hard bargain, but I cannot leave my other customers overnight." Mr. Parsons says hesitantly. "Mister Parsons your unwillingness to work for us directly has been noted." Agent pauses. "We need an item manufactured for us... the plans are on this." Agent refers to key fob in hand. Mr. Parson's hesitates taking the key fob from the agent and says "You remember the last time I made something for you... It didn't work like you thought it would." agent responds, "The results were useful to us." "So Agent Gray, do you know what this design is for?" Mr. Parsons asks. Agent responds "This job not for you to ask, but to do...". "Okay, okay... I know the routine... no questions." Mr. Parsons smirks. Agent states, "Your usual fee will be awarded upon completion Mister Parsons." Both agents walk out of storefront and enter black sedan, then drive away. Mr. Parsons steps back to workbench to pull away the dirty cloth exposing a glowing pulsating object.
