Game loads "Blank"

Yeah basically I've been having this problem for a while now.
What happens is the game will load me into the loading area, although I'm assuming that somewhere a connection has not been made and the game will load "Blank".

What I mean by that is that don't appear to be connected to the MxO servers and none of my buddy list, system chat, e-mails and things like that appear. When I try to "Jack In" through a hardline my screen just gets stuck on the first thing the loading bar says (I can remember what it is). This then causes my character to be "In Use" for a while.

Also the other weird thing is that if I click the Red "X" (the MxO one on the loading area and not the windows one) to quit the game it doesn't respond at all, forcing me to close the game using the Windows "X".

It just seems to happen to me occasionally.

Yeah it sounds like a internet connection problem.

It sounds like it might be a firewall problem. What firewall (if any) are you using?
Do you have a router on your internet connection or is your computer plugged directly to the modem? If it's plugged directly , is it a USB cable or Ethernet?
