I noticed that this wasn't posted here by Ashlanne or Virrago already (I wonder why.. If I were in a kind mood I'd say that perhaps Virrago was simply too busy to post it yet) so I thought I'd do it just to see the responses.
Soooo.. Anyone going to show their support? Anyone?
Good idea. Team Konami!

They didn't post this here because of the negative response they would get in their little tournament. They have given us zero support... why would they expect us to show them any different? I'll bet this wasn't posted on SWG's forum, either.

Actually...

lololololol
yeah considering about the hottest topic the last few weeks has been the Redpill Alliance, I think that seems unlikely.
If they promised us TWO devs, and a new LET, I'd call in sick and vote for them like crazy.
If........

A well deserved first round knockout.
I don't care what people say, if it wasn't for SoE, MxO wouldn't exist to this day, prob same with the likes of SWG.
Their a company, a business. They care about money and costs. Can't please everyone that plays MMO's lol so i'd do what they do and not bother. Too many whiners in this sort of business. No-one is happy with anything so why should they try?
Even if the done some bloody cash back thing, people would still complain... lol

Oh the humanity!
This contest wasn't put together very well. In almost all cases the first round pitted a well-known studio against someone I've never heard of. And the well-known studio won, funnily enough (except SOE, heh).
I was rather amused that Valve won over Id. That's knocked Id out for the whole contest, if I understand it correctly. Hah! Pretty close, though, pitting those two against each other.

You can't run a company into the ground, treat your customers with contempt, and expect people to be overjoyed about it.
I'm getting sick of this attitude that we should be THANKING them for just keeping MxO alive. It's that attitude that enables a company to get away with the crap that SOE gets away with. I don't need to thank them, my money does that for me. You people act like SOE is doing some kind of favor... I mean, you do realize that you're paying for this service, right?
There are no more whiners in this business than there is in any other. You only get to SEE the whiners because of the forums. If you've ever worked in any kind of customer service, be it food & beverage, fast food, hospitality, car repair, anything... you have upset customers. And what do you do with an upset customer (assuming you're a decent employee and not just a waste of flesh)? You try to turn their poor experience around to become a good, memorable experience. Why should the MMO business be any different? As customers, we're constantly given the "You'll get nothing and you'll like it!" attitude, and we put up with it. What has SOE done to try to make our experience a good one?

I appreciate that. I really truly do. I also agree with a lot of what you've said, but...
There are a lot of people who still pay monthly for this game that haven't been satisfied by the product they've received in years. That is the attitude that that enables a company to get away with the crap that SOE gets away with. People who whine* and moan and still pay their subscriptions month after month after month. Those who are thanking SOE for just keeping MxO alive are enabling a trend that has already long since been established.
If I'm not satisfied with a product, I stop paying for it. If I really liked that product, I am generally inclined to write a letter to explain why I wasn't satisfied and why I stopped paying. This has, more times than not, resulted in those companies going a little bit out of their way to get me back. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
If every single one of us canceled our subscriptions and wrote letters, I doubt that would ellicit anything more from SOE than a relieved sigh that it was finally all over as they finished burying MxO. Since I started playing a year ago, all I've heard about was how evil and hateful SOE was toward MxO. Many of the vets told me stories about how things used to be and how they are now. I missed out on some seriously awesome stuff. I've been told over and over again that MxO is the fatherless* child of the SOE enterprise. I've been told that they've cut things, made false promises, and ignored cries for attention. I've witnessed the death of live events and the vanishing act of the sole remaning designer. I've watched the story, which most people didn't even like, come to a screeching halt. My attitude toward this game has been molded and shaped by those who hold it so dearly and have been here for it all.
Am I thankful that SOE is keeping this brain-dead vegetable alive so that I can continue to play it and interact with the people that are still here? Hell yes. There's still a lot of things I have left to do yet.
A lot of people like me have listened closely to a lot of people like you, and I am not the only one who is thankful that I still have something to come to.

I disagree with your assertion.....Actually we were all pretty much happy and content up until November when Rare got burned out and tried his New Approach, which tried to reinvent the wheel and change the game from a dynamic interactive one to a flat, static generic one (World of MatrixCraft). I understand he was burned out but rather than scale back his work to a reasonable level (which we would have been happy with for the most part), again he tried to fix something that wasn't really broken in the first place. And no, many of us didn't hate the storyline, had it run its course normally I think there would have been a nice payoff in the end. It just got cut off in the middle of it. I'm ambivalent about his dumping the storyline. I mean if we were to hire a dev, who would want to touch that mess now?
So now we've gon from the frying pan into the fire. Now we have absolutely nothing....nada. And no we aren't whiney spoiled brats to begin with. Cause -> Effect. Things just don't happen for nothing.
Go back to Pre-November, and look at any section of these forums and you'll see a very content player base, for the most part.

I suppose our experiences were different. Also, I'm talking ingame as much as, if not more than, the forums. Maybe as a newer player the negative comments stuck out to me more, but I've been hearing about how bad SOE was for MxO and how they ruined the game since the first time I popped out of Uriah SW.
