Whats the point in having it as an option in game? People get suspended/warned/banned for cussing in game...

Isn't that what /safechat is for? Is for them types of people who gets offended by cussing?

I'm serious... This has been a problem since I first started, which has been since beta.... Someone please explain to me WHY /safechat is an option, if we still get introuble for cussing....

I guess some factions allow cussing which is privately kept from the publice eye outside of the faction.
Therefore, some faction members may not want to see the profanity if it is allowed in faction chat.

But I do see your point though.

A faction mate and I could get each other suspended immediatly for saying the F word in area chat. It only took 1 CCR with the words: This guy says the F word in area chat. It's annoying.

We both send the ccr and without any further investigation we got each other suspended. Odd thing is, another faction mate of mine got a warning for saying the F word.

/safechat ftw

It makes no sense to me. Even if people didnt want to see the cussing in area or FC, they should use safechat, besides ccring people just to get them suspended...

Here you will find the The Matrix Online: Community Standards Policies which you agree to every time you log in and press play.

Please read number 1 and number 2:

1. You may not harass or threaten other players (sexually, racially, or otherwise). Harassment is defined as any unwanted or unwelcome behavior beyond the limits of good taste and appropriate game context. Final determination of harassment and severity will be made by a CSR and their Supervisor after a thorough investigation to ensure that each violation is treated fairly and objectively.Harassment will result in disciplinary action being taken against the account that may include official warnings, account suspensions, or account terminations depending on the severity of the incident which will be determined by a CSR and a CSR Supervisor. Multiple suspensions or account termination will result in the termination of all SOE game accounts. Sexual/Racial harassment or hate mongering will lead to the immediate termination of all SOE game accounts.

2. You may not use any sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive language, in any language. The presence of any form of preventative filter or other game features is not license or permission, tacit or otherwise, to use such language in any form. The use of offensive language will result in disciplinary action being taken against the account that may include official warnings, account suspensions, or account terminations depending on the severity of the incident which will be determined by a CSR and a CSR Supervisor. Multiple suspensions or account termination will result in the termination of all SOE game accounts.

/safechat is not an excuse to get around the above policies which take precedence.

Then why have safe chat if it's useless? If someone doesn't want to hear bad words, just turn it on. We shouldn't get punished because adults (and this game IS rated teen, which in most age 13+ movies has at least one F word in it) can't handle some things like Fornication Under The Consent Of The King (in naughty form)

1.) Define appropriate game context. This game is rated T, and there is a distinct warning on the box that notes that "Experience May Change Online". This game is also based on a Movie Franchise that was Rated R, and featured many mature themes.

"Sexual/Racial harassment and hate mongering" that I get.

Me telling someone to go *CENSORED* themselves because that is my characters reaction to them, and them CCRing me for it, though they have the option to have safechat enabled and protect themselves from seeing any such things being typed? That is ignorant.

2.) We play a game where we kill people in day to day play. harmful/threatening/abusive/defamatory, hateful things will be said. It is a given.

I know people who sit here in this game and use language noone likes, talk trash, do anything they bloody well want to, yet they get away with it.

I know people who jokes around and says 'curse words', and they get suspended.

I know people who sit there and harrass/harrassed someone for MONTHS... got ccred daily, but nothing happened.

You tell me why certain people get away with whatever they want, and someone who says *CENSORED* in area, and gets suspended without warning?

Well, *CENSORED* that. SMILEY

The worst part of this story, Moonlite, is that we ccr'd each other and we both got suspended. Neither of us have been suspended before. Thus this means that whenever people say the F word that you all should treat people equally and suspend them too. SMILEY We just did it for the lulz but I can already predict a doom scenario where people will get banned during pvp for a silly thing like this. SMILEY

I've cussed in area chat before, and to my knowledge I haven't gotten in trouble for it (yet).

However, I tend to only use words like the F bomb in an exclamatory sense.

That is, I don't usually direct the language at another person, I just yell it out in chat when something I was trying to do goes horribly wrong. xD

There has never been consistent follow through from the CSR staff.

It also comes down to if people CCR someone.

I myself swear on a frequent basis.

I don't believe I get CCR'd for it, as I have never had a suspension, though I have at times been spoken to by members of the CSR staff.

Each time I actually was spoken to by a CSR, the person who filed the CSR stated it in area chat that they were going to.

I know it also matters who files the CCR ticket.

Case in point? I filed a CCR ticket on someone who was consistently sending me tells and swearing at me etc etc. I put them on ignore. This person would continue to say the things, have other people forward his bs to me, and use the /e emote system etc.

When I CCR'd them? Brewko himself spoke to me. He brought me into the white room, and talked to me, and you know what I got out of our conversation? That I had no right to CCR someone for that, because I had said the F word 107 times within that week.

You know the difference? I say it as a part of my characters speech pattern, I do not constantly harass someone in an OOC/attacking manner.

I've seen people even CCR people on purpose to try and obtain some sort of "revenge" on others.

exampel: VitaminI was egged on by some EPN *CENSORED*, to use an old Macro that the DOE had used during PVP, and had discontinued  because the same EPN members had CCR'd us as "imitating members of the CSR staff". Apparently you are not able to use the team "CSR" in MxO, so watch out for that. Vit told him to suck it, and popped it. The guy CCR'd it and Vitamin was gone for a week. Despite the fact that this guy had sat there and swore at Vit for weeks, called him multiple names [some of them of that "sexually degrading" variety], and stated flat out that he was harassing Vitamin to try and get him suspended.

It all comes down to which CSR is handling the case, what they have in front of them as far as "evidence" etc.

I'm contemplating the fallout effects of creating a large thread entitled with that swearword Ree, just for the lulz. Could go out in Sykin fasion, couldn't I?

And there's the ticket. If we want fair CSR reporting, we'd best go to a non SOE game.
