Everyone that has played WoW knows that you cna customise your UI with addons/mods and also show lots of different stats that tie in with combat.

I'm just wondering why this was never implemented here.  I assume it was due to lack of time and man power...... but I think it would be great if we could change certain aspects  ie add more hotbars, change the borders round the windows etc.

In an ideal world I would really love to see some simple counters like an xp per hour/xp to level, CQ's per hour.  These sort of things would let people know how well they are doing

I'm sure I can think of more but this will just end up as a wish list

So hows about some UI costomization devs SMILEY

UI customization has to be built from the ground up so that it works with the rendering engine. World of Warcraft's UI is based around XML and MxOs isn't.

Also recall that World of Warcraft was I believe just ending Beta when MxO release so it wasn't all the craze yet.

hmmm okay

Whats the possibility of adding a counter that would interrogate the database to get xp/info/cq information for a counter of some sort?

Probably very nearly zero if I understand what you are asking. XP is already displayed on the HUD info is easily seen on the Inventory window and CQ total is easily seen by using the chat command /cq as I recall.

I would just like somethign that said at the current xp rate how long you had to the next level and how much xp per hour you gained

Ah I see well City of Hero's community solved this problem by having a 3rd party app parse the chat information sent to the client and do calculations. Its called Hero Stats and easily found on source forge for those programmingly inclinded.

Heh, thats actually pretty clever.

Actually, most MMOs have 3rd party calculators and stuff, i've always been somewhat surprised we don't.

The Zion Mainframe?

If i recall TasteeWheat said he wasn't banned because of that but something else and decided to take it down as a personal decision...

Cant really remember too well though... is that what you were referring to at any rate?

The Zion mainframe is what you may be refering to the reason it was technically against the EULA was it involved having a bot account that you sent private messages to.

Also City of... might have a slightly different EULA then SOE's so its possible that Hero Stats and such dont violate it. Or they simply can't detect the app because it runs totally client side so there is no way to enforce something against those that use it.

Ahh that was it and CoH/HoV is terrible hehe

I dont think that many people have, to my knowledge, made 3rd party progs for mxo.  It would be interesting to see what there is out there

Because Mxo has a limited amount of development going on, and is short staffed. Also, wow has way too many subscribers, and is actually an attrocious game, whereas mxo pwns. So we don't need UI customisation to make up for it.
