Hi sean.kelly, When it comes to the processors that you have mentioned, phi is right on the money. AMD has included heat-protection (auto-clock-stepping and shutdown) to the FX and Athlon64 line of processors, but it was not present on the Athlon XP chips. The Sempron chip is just an Athlon chip, though I believe the newer ones are made on a reduced die size. I would follow phi's advice about memory and graphics card upgrades, as your CPU is probably not 'pegged' in most instances yet. When you are ready to upgrade your peocessor, you may want to upgrade your motherboard and CPU at the same time to get a real benefit from newer technologies. The AM2-socket CPUs no longer have an on-board memory controller, so you'll be able to get DDR2 or DDR3 memory, depending on the motherboard's own memory controller.

Some 9600's are shipped fanless. have you verified that you have a fan on your graphics card, and that it is working properly? This can reduce overheating, and may cure it altogether if there is adequate airflow in the case and over the graphics card. have you tried removing the side of your case, and pointing a standing fan inside the case?

Hello Mercio, This can happen if your graphics drivers are not detected properly, if the DLL files have become corrupted, or if the client is being cranky. Firstly, make sure you have rebooted your computer. Then, start up the game and toggle a Full System Check from both the EULA screen, and the login window. If this does not resolve the issue, try going into your game directory (usually C:\Program Files\monolith Productions\The Matrix Online\) and delete the following files: client.dll, artpclnt.dll, binkw32.dll, msvcp71.dll, msvcr71.dll, patchw32.dll, autoexec.cfg, options.cfg, useropts.cfg,matrix.exe. Now, start the game and toggle the Full System Check from both the EULA screen, and the login window. If you still cannot get in, please follow the instructions here to post your system information, and we'll see what else we can do for you.

Hi Chuui, Your friend really should be able to post here. Have them PM a moderator like TheJurymen to have his status checked to see if there is something that can be done to allow him to post. That being said, see if he can run the network tests and post them up, e-mail them to you to have them posted, or PM me and I'll post them. If he also sends me his Station name, I'll see what I can do about getting him some more play time. Thanks Cory

The ones that are not see-through have their shades drawn. OK, maybe not. But thats the best explanation I can give ont his info. It's possible that some of the windows are not supposed to be see-through, in which the game is working properly. it's also possible that they are supposed to be see through, but the pixel shading is not working correctly. if that is the case, then we need to know if it's a bug in-game, or if you use a non-fully-programmable-shader card like a Radeon 9200 or less, or a GeForce 3 card to run the game. If you have the right kind of hardware, are you also using the right drivers (basically anything in the 8x.xx or 9x.xx drivers for nVidia, or Catalyst 6.0 or better in the Radeon families).

Hello Tytanya_MxO, While you cannot really modify the game to allow these resolutions as options in the in-game Options menu, you can change the configuration files to launch the game in your resolution. Not all resolutions will work, and you will want to make a copy of this file before changing anything, to revert back to if something fails to work properly. That being said, go to your Matrix Online game directory (usually C:\Program Files\Monolith Productions\The Matrix Online\ or C:\Program Files\Sony \Matrix Online). Locate the file "useropts.cfg". Make a copy of this file, and place it somewhere convenient. You will need to do the same for the file "options.cfg" as well. Open this program with a text editor (like Notepad). It should default to this program if you double-click on it, but you may need to select Notepad from the list of programs if CFG files have not yet been associated to a text editor. Look for the section "# Screen resolution" and make your changes to the height and width. You should probably leave the colordepth alone. You will also need to remove the "#" from the beginning of ScreenHeight and ScreenWidth, to make these new settings take effect. #ScreenBitDepth = 32 ScreenHeight = 1144 ScreenWidth = 1920 The settings above assume that you want to run the game in a window that takes up the entire screen. The title bar at the top of the window is typically 20 pixels, and the taskbar at the bottom of the Desktop is usually sized in factors of 32 pixels (32 for a single-height task bar, 64 for a double-height task bar, etc.). If you have a single height taskbar, and you have the standard 20 pixel title bar, then the resolution above should fill the entire remaining portion of the desktop with the game. Make sure you have also set the game to run in Windowed mode. This can be done in the file "options.cfg". Locate the line that reads Windowed = 0 and change the 0 to a one. If the line is already = 1 then leave it be. If the line does not exist at all, add it to the bottom of the file. Save the settings and close Notepad. Your mileage may vary, and you may need to test different resolutions a bit to see what works best for your setup.

Hello mysterious player (sorry- no one has mentioned your name) This problem is almost definitely a network error, or a firewall problem. We will have to assume that you have already added Launcher.exe and Matrix.exe to the list of exclusions in your firewall program, for Full Access to the Internet, and that you have read phi's post and set up your Port Forwarding/Port Triggering correctly. As such, we will need to see if there's a problem on the connection between you and the server to diagnose a network issue. Thanks Cory HOW TO POST YOUR NETWORK INFORMATION: For connection issues, sometimes more information is needed. These posts should contain: Description of the Problem: 1. Server you currently playing on. 2. Problem(s) you are having including any error messages. 3. Internet Service Provider you are using and type of Internet connection. 4. Do you have a firewall between you and the Internet, or are you using any personal security/firewall software? If yes, what product and version. 5. Are you doing any Internet Connection Sharing or Network Address Translation? If yes, please provide details. Note: Please be aware, for liability reasons, that SOE cannot support nor troubleshoot any networking hardware/software you are using. We suggest contacting the manufacturer of your equipment/software or remove it prior to seeking technical help. Next, click START, select RUN. Type in the word “command” and select OK/ENTER. An MS-DOS Prompt window should appear with the prompt, "C:\windows\desktop". For Win98 or Win2000, type the following three DOS commands, one at a time, hitting ENTER between each command and waiting for the prompt to reappear: ipconfig /all > c:\mxoinfo.txt tracert Vector.MatrixOnline.com>> c:\mxoinfo.txt tracert Recursion.MatrixOnline.com>> c:\mxoinfo.txt
Be advised that each of these commands will take a few moments to complete, so please wait for the prompt before typing the next command. Finally, upon completion of these commands, you will find a file labeled "MXOINFO.TXT" on the root level of your C: drive. You can use the Find command from the Start menu to locate it. Open the file using notepad/wordpad and paste the contents to the appropriate thread. Posting the appropriate information will assist us, as well as your fellow posters, in assisting you. Either a tech moderator of this message board or one of your fellow players will then answer your post.

Hi Shadow Greiver, I have kicked the characer fromt he world, but I think it more likely that there is a client-side character-specific file which has become corrupted. Try this: Navigate to your Matrix Online directory (usually C:\Program Files\Monolith Productions\The Matrix Online\) and then open your Profiles folder. Find the folder named after your character (it will have an underscore and some random letters/numbers after the character name). Right-click on this folder and choose 'rename'. Add another underscore and then the word 'old' to the end of the name. This will help you remember that it's now a backup. Start the game and runa Full Scan from both the EULA and from the login screen, and then log your character in.

Hello Devaude-TGS, Port triggering is pretty easy to understand, though it may sound cryptic. A quick netowrking tutorial (very quick) is probably in order. Your network at home is not directly connected to the Internet. I can't just type in your computer's name, and have it appear in my Windows Network. I don't have immediate access to your computer or it's files just by knowing it's name. This is because your network is a 'walled garden'. There is a gate to this garden, but it is guarded. So even if I know where your compuer is, I can't get to it because that guard doesn't let me. Inside that garden, you set up your computers to see each other, to share files, and to be completely open. You are only making them completely open to each other, not to the whole Internet. When you want to get data from the Internet (like doing a search on google or buying from ebay) you send out messages. The guard allows your messages out, and allows replies to those messages to come back in. In most cases, the guard is smart enough to allow the replies back in, as well as directing them just to the computer that sent out the original requests. Port triggering is a set of instructions to that guard. It's saying "When I send out a message that looks like this, I'm going to need to get all of the messages coming back that look like this.". Normally, your guard would not non-direct replies to messages through your network, so you could not get all the messages that look like this. You can only get the ones that are replies to this. Your guard will now allow messages that look like this through the gate, as long as you first send out a message that looks like this. Since every time you start MxO, you have to send a message that looks like this, you will be able to receive all the data that the servers send to you, even though it's not a direct reply to you and looks like this. And that's what port triggering is. I'd like to apologize to any network gurus I have inadvertantly offended by my simplified explanation- we know it's more complicated than this, but the concept is there. Thanks Cory

Hi Pirathanite, This sounds like a network issue, not a hardware problem. The most likely cause is a router. If you connect to the Internet, make sure you have forwarded ports according to phi's post. You may also want to try removing this router temporarily and then try to replicate the issue without the router. If you use a software firewall, try disabling it before you play. Remember to disable the actual firewall, and not just the security center that monitors the status of your security software (such as McAfee, Norton, and Windows provides). If none of this helps, please try the network tests explained here, and post the information. Please do these tests without the router installed or the firewall on to make sure nothing interferes with the test. Thanks Cory

Hi gsup, The first thing to check is that you have a supported graphics card (a Radeon 9500 or better or a GeForce 3 or better) and that your drivers are up-to-date. Also, make sure you have restarted the machine at least once after installing the drivers before attempting to launch the game. If that does nto work, please post the information requested here so we can really help you out.

Hi Dxy, I have PM'd you for the personal info for this account. There is not much technical support can do for the faction issue- that's something the QA team and the Devs are working on. The in-game team may have a workaround, and they'll let you know as soon as they respond to your ticket. Hello DaShiznit, there are three possible causes for the tests to come out like this: 1. Your computer is not connected tot he Internet. As you are able to post here, this is an unlikely reason. 2. Your computer has a program or setting that is preventing access to matrixonline.com addresses. This can be a software program like a firewall, or an addition to the Hosts file on your computer that redirects access from our servers to a non-existant Internet address. 3. your ISP has lost connectivity with one of it's providers, or there is a break ont he patch between you and our servers that is preventing access to part of the Internet, and we happen to be located in that part. Try fully removing your antivirus and firewall software temporarily, and then run the game again. If that does not work, contact your ISP and show them the traces. They should be able to figure out where the break in connectivity is ocurring and get a fix implemented.

Hi saintDaniel, If you can get online with another character, please use /ccr from the game to request assistance from a GM. I don't have access to the tools needed to fix this for you. If you cannot log in from another character, submit the petition from station.com/email. Be sure to choose The Matrix Online as your Product and In-Game as your category. Tell the Gm the character name and server name that this happens to, the exact text of the error, and that Tech Support has already tried kicking the character for you. Twice.

These new forums were set up so that if your Station Name was the same as your Forum Handle, you were required to pick a new handle. Kinda stupid but that's how it is. As for the signature, you should be able to set a new one in "My Profile." Standard HTML tags like <img> <b> <br> etc should work in that field. That policy is to make sure that no one is advertising their Station name. Since all youneed to login is someone's Station name and password, there is no point in giving out 50% of the login to a malicious person.

Hello Frizard I show that the character "HJALMAR" on Vector has been deleted. I did make sure your other characters were 'kicked' to keep this from happening. In the future, the 'official' thread for this is here.
