I got into beta some time ago and gave it a go, I wasn't overly
impressed with it to be honest. I think I do have some spare beta codes
for the test as they sent me about 5 different beta invite emails
recently even though I was already in the test.

This was added to my list of best mxo moments so far, it does go a long
way to keeping the players happy even if it is a spare 5 minutes here
and there, and makes this game stand way out above others.
The most shocked player award for today goes to the bride and groom,
and the groom who refused a kiss with Persephone because he loved his

Much to our surprise today we were holding a small private wedding for
a few of our faction mates who decided to tie the knot. I was the

when we got to the part where if anyone who wanted to object to the
wedding would like to say something who would pop out and surprise us

get it out the way and onto the next one. OOOhhh no i can't because
someone just punted me while I was doing it.
Sorry this is a test server not an excuse to flex muscles on other players on other servers.
Combat can be adequatly tested using /pvp, in the constructs or against NPCs.
If you want an interesting go between, how about on the last few days
of testing the combat revisions make it an all out war, as it would be
nice to fight those people i never normally get the chance to fight
against, as long is it doesn't descend into my server is better than

Sure its got more content than mxo, its more polished with less bugs but theres just things about it that just didnt feel right.

I don't think anything like this was officially mentioned, it would of
course be cool to do this, but would require a lot of work ie,
reworking every item in the game, and at the moment the combat
revisions are the highest on the dev lists at the moment

If your January/February expectation is correct, things will pick up
around the time when it is mxos first birthday, and I think that around
that time the dev team may decide wether to begin work on the next
expansion of the game, as generally speaking around a year into a games
life is about the time when they think about bringing out an expansion.

I agree with you Abigor, as i've mentioned i didn't intend to make this
an issue at hand, but if SOE woulden't pay for a team to do what
other choice would there be to do this. Players have shown that they
can organise and create their own events, and I am sure there are
people out there who could do the job adequatly.
The problems would arise when intentional (or unintentional bias) came
into play. Someone who is a player is more than likely going to target
someone that they know or a faction they know when playing out events
rather than someone they don't which would show an unintentional bias.
Unfortunatly this is why it won't really happen.
On the flipside there are people who woulden't care who was doing it,
just that someone was doing it to improve their gameplay or just make
it more interesting, after all players know this game better than
anyone else, yes the devs know the workings of the game on the inside,
but the players know who is who, what faction does what etc etc
Theres also the point that SOE would NEVER had over rights of the game
in this way to mere players which kind of scuppers all discussion about
the fact that players could do this.
My whole point is that there should be a DEDICATED TEAM going above and
beyond what they are already doing, and I would PREFER them to be SOE
employees
I proberbly should save this discussion for something like LESIG to be honest

don't take the giving of player rights to do with these things that I
want, as it isn't, it was just a part of my ideas, as since the LET
consists of dev team members who havent the time or the effort to
continually take part in the games events.
I more suggest that a dedicated team be put together to do the things
that were suggested, people (not neccessarily players) do the things
that I have suggested on a full time basis, rather than a few times
every month or here and there when it suits them or has the time, the
reason i say players is merely on the basis of the fact that players
will work for free... and im sure SOE would not want to spend money to
pay a team of people to do these things (though i suggest they should)
Though having players do something like this would cause an uproar in
itself in a worse way than the people who complained about player mods,
but let me get it straight that I am not advocating this, and merely
offering ideas and not wanting to give players admin access to the
game..
Anyway..
Taking the time out to create player made events and scripting things
your way and making your own event as mentioned here is good, but is
limited by the system of what the game offers the player, and can not
influence the game on such a scale as a LE member can do. player events
are the only option at the moment and in its own right is good,
but to be honest you shoulden't have to do it, you are paying to play
the game not paying to create your own game.
It is not neccesarily RP events that I am talking about, one idea that
I mentioned is the escape from the closed off building, its basically
new ideas, different things that can happen in the game, its all very
well having a few masked men attack in the open only to have the
innevitable beatdown occuring as everyone piles in beats them around,
its fun but doesnt serve any rhyme reason or purpose, whereas
targetting groups or individuals with smaller events that happen all
through the day to different random people makes for much interesting
gameplay.
If something happenned to you ingame such as this your bound to
remember it, want to play more to help in other peoples events or hope
it happens again as you enjoyed it when it happenned.
Occasionaly smaller events are targetted at individuals or groups but
happen all to rarely, for example in one such event i was targetted by
an LE assassin and was chased all over the place only to end up in a
club with a bunch of other players protecting me, I remember that
clearly because it was a surprise, it made me enjoy what was going on
and over all improved my feeling of the game, and I am sure many would
agree with that.

Its pretty common knowledge that the live events team consists of
mainly beleagured dev team members, yet something occured to me last
night, I don't know wether anyone remembers the game Neverwinter
Nights, which had a DM client for DMs to access a server with rights to
affect the game anyway they please to make the game that was running at
the time more interesting for the players that were running at the time.
Currently smaller events revolve around the fact that now and then some
mobs may be spawned to fight players of players may get to meet
characters for meetings etc, its fun but doesnt happen enough and
doesnt really make that much sense or point, especially when it happens
to to few people for others to get the enjoyment out of it.
Now what I was thinking, which I believe would be a good idea to make
the game different from what it is now and certainly different to what
other games offer, is a dedicated few people that access the game and
affect it as they see fit, for example
Taking over an agent spawning with someone that is in a restricted
area, thusly scaring the bejesus out of a player when the agent turns
around and actually attempts to chase them properly ie through and over
buildings, and says something apart from the scripted responses.
Taking over bluepill npcs and engaging in conversation with redpills again apart from the scripted conversation
spawning random attacks to surprise the redpills and keep them on their toes.
creating mini events such as boxing a team of redpills on a mission
inside a building and them attempting to survive and get out without
getting killed such as when in happenned in the original matrix movie.
Creating matrix glitches that make the player wonder what the hell is going on.
These are just a few ideas to make the game more interesting, and I
feel would break the monotony of what can happen with the game, it
would keep players on their toes to know that at ANY time something can
happen, I don't mean that these events happen at particular times of
the day to become predicatable, I mean that they happen all the time,
the team dedicated to doing this is working all the time, they play out
one little event and move onto another area where someone else is
playing and do this continually.
All it takes is a few dedicated people to do this, and I'm sure the mxo
client is built to be able to do such things with an admin access
anyway, Hell i'd volunteer to do it if i could.
Thoughts?

I remember a lot of names from beta that have dissappeared into the
night, but few still remain, and the ones that do, do not have an
impact on the community at large as once that they did, its a shame but
things like that happen.
One thing I am looking forward to is the new test server which whould
hopefully bring everyone back together again at least for a brief
period to write those bug reports, shoot the breeze and generally work
together as a community again

screenies as he had a beta invite and i didn't i was intensly jealous,
then i got mine and was so excited, i had been looking forward to it
for a long time, getting in game that very same night just before the

beta testing)
I played for half an hour and was hooked and couldent wait the next few days for the servers to come back on.
I also miss the amusing general board NDA breaking threads to which the torrent of replies would revolve around *coughNDAcough

This community has a tendancy to be very vocal if there is something
going on that they do not like, the one main difference with this
upgrade is that the community on the whole likes the idea of some
upgrades as the game does need them in its current state, whereas SWG
many people feel didn't need the upgrades in the way they were
implemented.
MXO is a great game but could do with some tender loving care.

when Awakened was RFZ it seemed more supported as they were essentially
the only Mxo station around for a long time, Sundog dragged the station
kicking and screaming into the limelight, and in beta pretty much
everyone who played, loved and listened to RFZ.
DN1 had official links, as well as numerous mentions of the good work
that the station did to promote events, everyone remembers the end of
beta RFZ coverage.
All that fell away, for me Awakened was never as good as RFZ, it should
still have some sort of official support though in my eyes.

in my mind that end of beta event was the best event that has happenned
in any mmo game ever, and is the best time I had playing mxo, if every
storyline event was as interesting and exciting as the end of beta
events where then the game would be a whole lot more popular than it
currently is.
As much as I love live events they never ccame anywhere close to the
excitement of the end of beta, RFZ made it into a war of the worlds
affair adding to the atmosphere of what was going on.

where agents come after you at every turn and the area mobs hunt you

Further areas such as downtown and International are accessed through

To have a script that automatically changes the access rights of a file
would kind of defeat the whole object of having CHMOD in the firstplace
wouldent it, which is basically a security method to stop files being viewed or accessed.
If a script was created the applications of such a script could be used
for the purposes to rewriting CHMOD setups on servers and removing the
file access rights
