Sad and geeky as it is, I would willingly shell out for a real-life beta shirt, or even better a beta-hoodie, to go with my in-game ones

Heh, first time I come back here for a while and I notice that. Great going gus AdSense is notoriously rubbish on forums. I'd be suprised if this made more than a trickle of income for them, especially when the smartpricing kicks in from the abysmal Click through rate. EDIT: Hmmz, 'always append signature' checked in user profile, yet the 'Append Signature' box not checked on the post itself. Interesting.

No. Dear lord god NO! Whatever you do, please, please, don't ever think about implementing anything like this in any context vaguely related to the LET. First up, it is a lot harder to 'program' the AIML structures that you might think. The sheer mind-numbing tediousness for a start. Secondly, there is no schema which is currently designed with full-sentence interpretation in mind, to my knowledge. The Program E which HAL is based on is nowhere near sufficient for the task. Thirdly, ask Zampano, tax, d4sh, Euphraxia, Anubias, DeathBlade or any of the others who've used HAL about the utter garbage it can churn out. The 'best' I've ever managed to get out of it is here, and most of that is rubbish. Basically ... just not worth the effort. In any way, shape or form. EDIT: Spelling

Originally, I was grabbed by an advert for the beta. The game sounded kinda interesting, so I signed up and was accepted in febuary 2005. I played for a bit and only got up to level 10, but it was the End of Beta event that really grabbed my attention and made me want to buy the game.
I was busy throughout the first two months of live with exams and stuff, so it was only around June that I signed up proper. The main reason for that was an old friend who I'd lost touch with had just got back in contact with me, and when I told him about MxO wanted to join.
So the first few months were basically us two catching up and having fun. And in time I drifted into TGS, while he soon followed. From that point, srrounded by wonderful people, I just got very into the game, the social aspect in particular.
I've tried other MMOs, and to be honest I've never got that immersion that carried me through MxO. I always get to about level 15 then quit, because I don't get the same community spirit.
Now, unfortunatly, I've been at Uni for 6 months and I find that the game just can't grab my interest anymore. Old friends drifting away, and a lack of will to make new ones. My account runs out febuary 2007, but who knows, I may be back to see what changed have gone on.

*Looks at people stampeding off to Google to Seach 'MxO 2'*
Personally, Febuary. That's when my account runs out, and incidentally that's almost exactly my 2-year anniversary. For the game itself, I'd say until Rarebit leaves. After that the game will continue ticking over, but people will slowly start leaving due to lack of anything new happening.
Yes, I'm aware there's other devs. However they're never active in public, which doesn't reassure customers that anyone other than Rarebit is doing anything. No offence

My quick impressions based on a small amount of test data:
No regen -> +2 / 3 health per second in IL
20% regen -> +5 health per second in IL
45% regen -> +9 health per second in IL
Difference = 6 / 7 HPS
IL round = 4 seconds
4 * 7 = 28 health per interlock round. Now you have to compare that to how much health you save by using resists instead. For me, it's really just not worth the effort of trying to increase your health regen rate.
IS is a different matter altogether though.

Good event, even if the area hacks got annoying, and you could never get near 'im for all the level 52 zombies pulling you into interlock

Hmm, if it's a singleton and will only drop in the world when the carrier is killed ... then I think that pretty much answers the server slowdown. Especially if it takes 5-10 minutes to get one.

As much as I love the dev team, I wouldn't get too into the whole CTF concept. From my perspective, 'luggables' seem to be a nice addition to the data miner tree, pulling an item out of the code-stream and having to return it to a contact while being chased by auto-spawning NPCs.
Ok, that sounds like CTF too. Oh well

As the second of my 'I should have written about this ages ago but couldn't be arsed' articles today, I bring you health inhalers. The overlooked counterpart of health pills, it seems that nobody uses them anymore. Still, tell me what's wrong with this picture? Heals 90 damage every 2.5 seconds, right? Ok, now tell me what you see in my system chat. Exactly. These inhalers are healing a little over a quarter of what they should be healing. This happens regardless of what resistances you're wearing, so I'm presuming this is a bug. I get an average of three sweeps per inhaler, which amounts to a grand total of 69 health. I believe that someone might have mis-read the description, presumed there were four sweeps spaced 2.5 seconds apart (it lasts for approximatly 10 seconds) and hence make a useful little thing that repairs 90 damage (or 69 accounting for the lost sweep) over a period of time, rather than every 2.5 seconds. So, yeah. Especially if this doesn't get fixed, don't go wasted 44,000 info on even one of these things :/

This is an animation bug that I, and several dozen other people I suppose, have known about for a long time. However due to the ... err ... frequency which I am coming across it lately, I thought it was about time to make a post about it. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: The Arse Boner: Only reproducable when you're naked and the buttocks near the floor. All I can think is that there's a fixed point from which most animations are drawn, and that clothing normally disables showing the line from this point to the actual animation body. If so, I suppose that's something that will never get 'fixed', but I'm whining about it anyway Bonus points to anyone who can figure out where the screenies were taken
