Let's get your system specs posted up for us.

If you are unable to configure the router you should contact the router's maker for more detailed instructions.

Make sure you are not running any programs on your windows taskbar. If the problem persist you should try running your system under a clean boot as this will prevent any hidden programs from loading.

To disable background programs:

1.Select the START button.
2.Select RUN.
3.Type in "msconfig" (without the " SMILEY

4.Press OK
5.Select the STARTUP tab.
6.In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.
7.Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.

For those who want to take the extra step, yes they can go ahead and back them up or save them to another directory.

The good thing about the patcher is it will download the default version from the server if the file is missing.

But you could always go back to how it was by replacing the new files with your backed up ones, yes.
