Shortly after the postings on Recursion - myself and a faction mate started looking around for these super-nodes (I think this was last wednesday - the 11th). The 2500 info data node that never expired was just to the right of the Creston heights Northwest hardline. I spent some time tapping but only came away with about 750000 info for the trouble (which can also be had by farming mobs in about 1/100 of the time). Since the node is above the level of a lvl 50 data miner - i was succesfull in tapping it only about 50% of the time.
I have no screen shots of this - like the other person - I thought this had no significance.
Curiously - the next day - Thursday the 12th - this node was no longer in the same place. I suspect the standard server maintenance disrupts the nodes and moves them around. I spent saturday - the 14th hunting for the new location and found it after tapping a butt load. If you go to Creston heights NW today - there should be very few nodes that are accessible. The one data node that never expires should still be availble all day today. If interested in the location - send me a tell or in-game email.
I read with interest the posts on thoughts behind this and if it were an exploit or not. Seriously - do the math. If you can tap 2500 from a data node (if you have the upgraded wear to boost your abilty so you can tap succesfully 100% of the time) - and you can tap once every 50 seconds or so - the most you can extract is 180,000 info per hour. Thats a paltry 1,144,000 info in an 8 hour period. We all should know - you can extract 5 times this amount just by farming bad guys in Stamos or Stratford.
I seriously doubt a "supernode" exists that spits out millions of info per tap. If someone were to post a screen shot proving me wrong - I'd appreciate the info (no pun intended).
I almost forgot to metnion- back when I was a level 20 or so - I was data mining somewhere in westview - just passing the time (this was probably in may or so of last year) and found a weapon - just floating in the air. So it seems data mining can also give items - not just info and XP...
