The Lounge Off-Topic Discussion What's your Halo 3 review? Re:What's your Halo 3 review? TheWhiteKing 0 09/29/2007 12:41
The campaign was good, but too short. I believe that, somehow, they could've expanded the story a bit more. Multiplayer is, as usual, a lot of fun. To make a long story short, Halo 3 is one of my top five favorite games.

“One would be surprised at what I’ve uncovered on The White King. First of all, he’s a wanted man. I guess he tampered with too many minds as a Machinist and fled. So, why was his apprentice still working for the Machines? It’s an interesting situation and I’m sure there’s more to find out.

I’m not too sure if he’s found any that would come to his cause. Of course, I can never be too sure. Everyone could be an enemy now. And I mean everyone. They all could be sleeper agents. Let’s hope I’m wrong.

Let’s really hope I’m wrong.”

Recursion Next Renaissance - Recursion White Vengeance Re:White Vengeance TheWhiteKing 0 09/11/2007 21:06
It was one of those days, the clouds slowly moving across the sky. Yet, there was no rain. Typical glitch, thought Shirotou as he adjusted his sunglasses with a touch of two fingers. Interestingly enough, Camon was devoid of activity, the hardline not surrounded by the usual crowd of awakened as well as the occasional bluepill, often investing the enigma that were the redpills.

He leapt down from his perch, landing with a soft thump against the white-stone tiles of the plaza, next to the hardline. Shirotou flexed a gloved right hand, a dull pain emitting from near his palm. A recent encounter with Machine operatives had left him with a broken hand, something that had easily healed with a few hours of meditation in his personal processing unit as well as a tiny boost from one of Spec’s numerous residual-self-image healing programs.

Shirotou reached out for the phone with one hand, beginning to feel the programs run down his arm as he grasped the ringing phone, the programs that would return his mind back to the Neptune, back to Outpost One, back to home. Then, out of the grey skies, a gunshot roared throughout the plaza. The glass of the phone booth shattered, the phone left the operative’s outstretched hand [ringing still, of course], and Shirotou leapt to the left, the bullet missing by a mile.

“What in -” He asked himself, his question interrupted by the roar of yet another shot ringing through the night sky. He leapt again, the bullet this time narrowly missing by inches. Shirotou tumbled to a kneeling position, right hand snatching at his FM-700 handgun, the standard issue of most at his neurokinetic level. He aimed the barrel at the origin of the bullets’ trajectory [deduced by his awakened senses] and fired twice.

The two potshots, by a matter of pure luck, revealed the location of the sniper, perched high above the plaza on a rooftop not many meters away. Shiro sprung into action, leaping into the sky toward the sniper. He landed safely on the rooftop; keen eyes watching as the sniper drew his handgun, raising the barrel to fire. Shiro, quicker by a hair, raised his FM-700 and fired twice at the sniper.

The sniper’s handgun leapt from his hand, carried by one bullet from Shirotou’s pistol. The other projectile connected with the sniper’s leg, dropping the fleeing assassin to his knees in immense pain, a scream echoing throughout Camon. He tried to stand on the injured leg, but then found his face forced against the cold concrete, Shirotou’s foot somehow close to crushing his skull. Blood seeped down his pant leg, once white. In fact, his entire outfit was white.

Shirotou swore under his breath. Hadn’t he murdered her? Finished that damned operation of hers? Last time, he had checked, not many people survived being stabbed in the chest by a metal rod. He pushed his foot a little harder against the sniper’s skull, letting his anger take over. But, he couldn’t kill this man. Not yet. He needed answers. A lot of them.

He eased his foot’s hold upon the sniper’s head before asking, “Who are you? And why are you hunting me down?”

“He activated me. He sent me.” The sniper answered through hurried breaths. “You are a traitor to the program, Copeland.”

“Traitor, huh?” Shiro asked sarcastically. “Your facts are screwed up as usual, asset.”

The asset looked up at Shirotou, confused. “You know?” He asked.

“Of course!” Shirotou exclaimed. “I was the first. Unwillingly, of course.” His fingers grasped the handgrip of his FM-700, the index willed not to fire. Yet.

“Niveus never told us that.” The asset muttered under his breath.

A name! Niveus! It was a start, of course. The asset, realizing his mistake, swore and rolled out from under Shirotou’s foot, seeking to strike the Zionist’s foot. Shirotou foot smashed down against the asset’s sternum, knocking the wind out of him. Shiro’s gloved hands grabbed the collar of the asset’s white coat, tightly wound around his fingers.

“If you know what’s good for you, if he knows what’s good for him.” Shirotou growled. “You will stay away from me, from my friends, from my family. You go near any of them and I will hunt you down. I will bring this fight back to your doorstep and I will take you down so hard and so fast that you won’t even know what hit you.”

And with that, Shirotou left the asset, leaping into the night sky.

There were so many questions. And so few answers.

A recap of the events of Experimental Defection [for those of you who missed out last time ‘round]

In an unfortunate turn of events, a woman called the “Lady in White” returned to the Matrix in search of her “pet”, the young operative known as Shirotou. The scientist claimed that he had somehow escaped from one of the Machine’s many prison constructs and was deemed a seriously dangerous threat to the Matrix. In reality, this was never the case but an elaborate ruse for the scientist to retrieve her experiment. After a warrant for Shirotou’s arrest was broadcast on several networks, a Merovingian-aligned operative by the name of Kaelli hunted down, captured, and detained Shirotou long enough to send him back to her prison construct.

A week passed before Shirotou’s re-emergence into the Matrix, a changed man. The Lady in White’s experiment had been a risky one, involving the insertion of loyal Machine programs into the minds of humans, creating sleeper agents for the Machines. The first, Shirotou helped gather some information for the Machines before his ruse was discovered by Zion forces, then deemed an enemy of Zion. Another, by the name of RedBindi, was also turned into a sleeper agent but her alter ego was not able to transmit any information to the Machines as Fenshire and other Zionist operatives destroyed her, freeing Red. The Lady in White was also fatally wounded in the confrontation, gunned down by Red and Fen.

She escaped to the Real in a last-ditch effort to save her experiment before being confronted by Shirotou, who murdered her on the spot. The program now gone from his mind, the young operative returned to the Trust, aboard the hovercraft Neptune and has remained there ever since.

But, as always, where there is a student, there is her teacher.

But, which was she?

The Master? Or the Apprentice?

Well, we’ll see what happens, huh?”

“The Lady in White’s operation has been shut down. Yes, you may have thought this to be her, but it isn’t at all. This is Shirotou. Yes, the real one. Not that fake one you’ve all been speaking to for the last few days. Don’t ask how I overcame my programming; it’s too long of a story to re-tell. Thank you to Red and Fen for taking down that ****; without them, I wouldn’t be here.

As for the conspirators of this whole plot, we still don’t know who could be behind the Lady in White’s research. I intend to find out, obviously. This is only the beginning.”

"The subject now shows signs of resisting the program. Never a good thing. We have other sleeper agents, ones that'll prove useful if he continues to resist. They'll be able to take him out, but we can never be too sure. He's escaped once before, but I don't want him out again. The program within will decay over use and it seems as though his time may be up."

“The subject seems to be operating at somewhat normal capacity, according to my readings. He shows no resistance to the experimentation, always a good thing. He’s practically brain-dead, which helps greatly in control of pretty much every bodily function. Our man should be in place soon, I believe. He’ll be glad to finally be out in the Matrix.”

There was nothing but pain. It wasn’t just the two bullets that had entered his side, still stuck there between layers of flesh, blood, and bone. His mind was in pain as well, as though someone had begun to drill through his skull. Most of the time, he couldn’t even remember where he was. Or who he was. All Matthew James Copeland could see was white, a fitting sight for the man who had taken the name “Shirotou” upon realizing the truth.

He tried to stand, but his legs failed him, knees buckling, head colliding with the hard floor below. Blood trickled from his nose, his mouth, a small river forming around his body, the result of many days of trying to stand and escape from this place. He just couldn’t do it; his mind would not let him out so easily, not yet. He continued to stare at the ground below, trying to muster his energy through focus. There had to be something there, had to be some way to escape from here. He had done it before, hadn’t he?

The twin doors opened, revealing a figure. A woman in a white dress. It was her, the figure that had haunted his dreams for almost a year, the lady in white. Her white dress fitting her hourglass figure perfectly, feet now arched in white heels that clacked as they hit the ground with every step. “Hello, Matthew.” Her tone was welcoming; her voice soothing as the words flowed through his ears. She approached him, kneeling, and took his chin in her hand. “It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?”

He said nothing. There was nothing to be said. And, besides, he couldn’t. He was too far within the white to say anything.

“It’s been a year, Matthew.” She answered for him, her smile turning into a frown. “I thought I had lost my favorite experiment, my pet. You had escaped somehow from our prison construct and escaped into the Matrix. How you did this? We are not sure, but it does not matter now.”

He could hear the clicks of typing in the background, could hear a strange static-like noise buzzing in his head, blocking out any other sound. What in hell was going on? What was happening? And then, there was pain, unlike any other pain he had ever felt in his life. What were they doing to him? Why were they doing this?

“We have you now.” The lady in white said with a grin, her voice barely audible above the static-like noise within his mind. “And that is all that matters. Welcome back to our experiment, my pet.”

He screamed and screamed as he once again saw the green code before his eyes, the world around him falling apart piece by piece, his own body piece by piece. He screamed for help, screamed for God to save him, screamed for anything to help him. But, this time there was no help. There was no escape.

There was just the white.

To Be Continued

“Greetings, operatives. You’re probably wondering why you’ve received this transmission, but you should not worry. Everyone has. I need your help in tracking down this man, the one who calls himself “Shirotou”. I know him as Matthew James Copeland. For over the past year, he has been locked in one of the Machines’ prison constructs but recently, and somehow, escaped. We, the Machines, are trying to capture this man and put him behind bars for good. I am offering a reward of five hundred thousand info for this man’s capture. I need him alive and I need him within an organization’s construct in order for his return to the prison construct to work. Upon capturing Shirotou, you will no longer have to worry about him as my crew will acquire his broadcasting signal and he will be jacked back into our prison construct.  It won’t take much skill at all to capture Shirotou as his neurokinetic levels are still quite low compared to yours, I believe. Thank your for your time.

Oh yes, and don't let me forget, my name is TheLadyinWhite. That might be important as that is where your money is coming from.”
