((DISCLAIMER: This story is in no way meant to do anything outside Matrix canon. (i.e. returning the dead to life in the Real) Instead, this story is meant to show what I believe would happen to a man like Dezreki after his death, and in the afterlife.))

A room with no doors and no windows traps a plethora of solemn men, women, and children. The expression on their faces in this cold, stone room does not change as they stand in a line to walk through a small, dark-as-night tunnel at the end of the room. Some cry, while others keep their eyes closed tight. It is clear to each and every one of them that their fates are to be decided by some type of divine host. The self-righteous, amongst their arrogance, stand amidst this group, confident in their choices in life - confident that they have done only right in this world. Among them, is the Fallen Commander, Dezreki, whose fate is not what he had expected.

"Where the hell am I?"

The Commander glanced around the room in a state of panic and observation. It was in Dezreki's nature to identify his surrounding as quickly and efficiently as possible as to ensure survivability in any situation. He was standing in a long line of people, whose expressions were randomized amongst them. The Commander lightly tapped the shoulder of a man standing in front of him. "Hey, buddy," Dezreki spoke softly to the stoic man.

There was no response; the man's expression did not change, nor did he show any sign of noticing the Commander's attempt to gain his attention. Dezreki quickly realized that it would be futile to continue trying to get his attention, so he shifted his focus towards the head of the line. People who were at the head of the line waited for awhile until stepping into a tunnel, where they were not seen past that point. As they walked through the tunnel, the line systemically moved forward without any questions or resistance.

The line moved forward once more, and this time, Dezreki noticed a peculiarity about the movement. The line moved forward. He moved forward. However, he did not walk forward; he could no longer feel his legs moving. It was at this point he realized there was no longer choice. There was no longer freedom. He was, in fact, a prisoner to a dark master. Dezreki was now truly afraid, and he had every reason to be.

Like sheep to a flock, the line kept moving forward, as per the request of the shepherd or leader. The Commander had always dictated his own choices, and the choices of others. For him to be in a place where his choices were no longer his own was his own form of a personal hell. He could only wait as the line continued to march forward, into a dark tunnel that seemed to represent freedom from this makeshift prison.

"Something's wrong here; how did I get here? What happened to me? Damnit! I can't remember anything!"

The sound of a single, loud footstep resounded in the small room. All the prisoners were obviously under the same control, and moved in the same fashion every time one of them entered the tunnel. Dezreki had lost track of time as he waited in the line of prisoners. His mind was elsewhere; his thoughts were of his friends, wherever they were.

"Recession, Caine, Trinas, Shiboo...where are you?"

The tone swept through the room once more, only this time, Dezreki was at the head of the line. He looked ahead into the dark tunnel where others had disappeared into. It was his time to try to break free of these hellish chains.

"So, you are the one who calls himself Azrael?" a voice echoed throughout the room, though it seemed to be heard by only Dezreki himself.

"Yeah," Dezreki snapped back, "what of it?" the Commander attempted to remain sarcastic and casual, despite his fear.

Dezreki felt a long, dark silence between his statement, and when the voice next spoke. He wasn't sure whether it write it off as his imagination, or if things were only about to get worse.

"Come, Leon," the voice spoke through the room once more, "step forward."

Dezreki obeyed unquestioningly.

Only this time...

He was the one who controlled his movements.

That's right...a week from now, Dez's time is up here. Well, might be a bit longer. I'm going to be leaving as soon as my NR story is completed. So, I'll be makin' my formal list of goodbye's at the closing of the story.

A lot of things have happened throughout this community in the past few months, most of which being negative. Unless they directly involved me, I had a tendency to keep my mouth shut about things, and not get into too much of it. It wasn't until today when I really spoke up; when I really saw a degeneration of the Matrix Online's once-esteemed community. I think somewhere between LESIG 2.0 and players getting banned, we really lost sight of much we truly enjoy this game. How much we really lost sight of the fact that a lot of us have been here since beta.

This post is really just a bunch of senseless ramblings, and yes, I'm aware of that. However, look down the World Discussion boards here and look at all these flaming, flame-baiting, and locked threads. We have 8/39 threads locked (not counting the sticky as one). To some of you, that may not seem like a lot, but, it really is. That's 20% of our posts; one out of every five threads.

I don't know what's created the hectic chaos in our community, but, it has got to end. I don't know how many of you remember the Save MxO campaign back during the initial SOE-takeover, however, I think that campaign needs to come back. But this time, not against SOE, but against the community degeneration out there. Look at what we've become! Consistent bickering and causing civil war in this community over players breaking the Terms of Service?! We've all read the rules; we all know what's acceptable; we all know how to act in this game.

We need to start *doing* that, though.

I remember a day when we put *positive* reinforcement in this game. When our efforts were put into having fun and looking into Live Events, not freaking out over them -- not causing them problems!

Look at the SOE Development team as of now. Do you think what we do makes their job any easier? Do you honestly think our almost constant complaining makes their already-difficult job any easier? For instance, look at Rarebit, I mean, *CENSORED*, I give that guy kudos beyond believe, but, look at how much crap we give him! "You're favoring this player!" "LESIG isn't doing their job!" "He shouldn't have gotten that award!" "Why didn't I get anything?!" "That event had no purpose." I think I've taken two complaints to him in my entire time here. Once because we'd been lacking a liaison officer forever, and another time because I had problems with a liaison officer. I addressed it *one time* and let Rare handle it. And ya know what? He did. He handled the problem to the best of his ability, and that's always what he has done.

Raijinn, Rarebit, Brewko, NoRepro -- that whole crew has gone above and beyond expectations. We complain about Raijinn for not having enough experience, or favoring players? Oh well, he does his job well! We yell at Rarebit for his live events or LESIG programs? Have you *seen* how much he's done for us? Go browse the *CENSORED* Live Event boards. Brewko? He's doing his *job*! Handling disciplinary issues! If you don't break the rules, he leaves you alone; simple as that. When I needed my EPN tag way back in the day, he was an *awesome* guy to talk to; real funny, too. I mean, if you've seen his trivia contests, you can probably even vouch that Brewko knows how to have a good time and have fun. NoRepro? Well, I don't see much yelling directed at him, but, I still grant him kudos for his work. SMILEY

I don't know, maybe its just me, but, this community is degeneration. And, in all reality...

..this community, is the the pride and joy of MxO. Its what keeps us goin'.

Meh, hope I don't get yelled at for spamming, but, I just felt like posting here regarding information on a new thread I threw on the Tech Help forums for Vista Users if they're interested in some fixes as well as encouraging more bug reports be sent in regarding what you're seeing in Vista as I've helped out several people get past many issues with Vista.

(Okay, well, yes, I know that there's the Vista Errors with MxO thing running, however, those are for bug reports. After working tirelessly with the system and experimenting some things, I've been able to find out how to override a lot of these issues. It's been a hassle, however, I have the fixes. First, though, I'd like to give credit to Rarebit for his most recent statement of what issues SOE has officially recognized as Vista-Specific:)

3) Black screenshots with anti-aliasing enabled

Screenshots, either jpg or bmp, come out entirely black with Anti-aliasing enabled in the advanced graphics options panel. This only occurs when running full-screen (AA doesn't work when running in a window) at a resolution other than the desktop resolution; if you run at the desktop resolution, full-screen, with AA, screenshots work normally.

4) Female with nose ring has metallic shiny chest

A female with the facial style that includes a nose-ring model gets a shiny specular highlight on her upper torso. It appears that at least with the female, the nose ring's specular image map, which should be rendering only on the ring part of the face child model, is rendering on the character's chest.

Certain Terms that may be necessary for you to understand the Guide:

Administration Mode- To run The Matrix Online - or any program - in administration mode, you need to right click on the icon and click "Run As Administrator" and "Allow" the program.

Anti-Aliasing: To allow/disallow Anti-Aliasing, you need to hit " \ " to bring up the Options Panel and go to "Advanced," there, you can turn off Anti-Aliasing.

Windowed Mode- To enable/disable Windowed mode, you need to hit " \ " to bring up the Options Panel and check or uncheck the Windowed option.

Screenshot Bug

Description: The most common error that was first run into with Vista was the screenshot bug. This bug would register a screenshot in the specified directory, however, would not display the image, only a black, blank screenshot.

Fix: The only known fix for this bug as of now is to disable the Anti-Aliasing feature and to run The Matrix Online in full-screen mode.

Texture Issues and Shadow/Lighting Issues

Description: If the screenshot bug wasn't the first problem you had, it was with these texture issues. Microsoft Vista has certain incompatibilities with several different graphics cards - the most noted card being ones of Nvidia. This would turn the figures of the Matrix into very pixel-ish formats.

Primary Fix (Thanks to Symmetic for pointing it out): Turn off Character Shadows.

Secondary, less effective semi-Fix: Okay, this is probably the most complicated fix to work with, however, it can be stopped to an extent. The first thing you should do is get a useropts config that allows for a LOT of free-roam, as the texture detail issue has a lot to do with your camera. Also, crankin' out highest detail and maxin' other stuff out helps a considerable amount. At the end of this statement, I will post a link to download my personal useropts settings which cause me to run in very, very few texture details. It also seems to get rid of 90% of shadow/lighting errors. The camera positioning with Vista texture issues is something that you'll just learn to setup in time. Keeping certain distances away and using certain angles is the primary way to run it.

Launcher Errors

Description: Most Launcher errors deal with some type of .dll error or some other sort that the game failed to locate the matrix.exe file.

Fix: Run in administrative mode or re-install the game using administrative settings.

Clothing Errors

Description: Certain clothing combinations causes the entire screen to have a texture failure and display colors instead of pictures.

Fix: Well, there's not an official "fix" to this error yet, however, the first thing you really have to do is identify what clothing or clothing combinations causes this bug. Once you have that done, you should be able to realize what you shouldn't have paired up. Is that a hassle to change your clothing uniform? Yes, without a double; but, hey, Vista *is* a hassle. I'm working on a workaround with this, however, none have been currently determined as of yet.

Frequent Crashes in Vista

Description: Title kind of gives it away.

Fix: Run in administrative mode. If that does not work, you may need to re-install in Administration Mode.

Missing Name Tags

Description: If nametags are missing and Control + T isn't fixing it, then you have run into this bug.

Fix: Run in administrative mode.

I think I might go to this one...I'm only 4 hours from the place, just ran a mapquest, so...you may end up seeing Dezreki there.

Okay, ever since the last patch, I've been having a problem that 95% of the time, if I put a box in front of MxO and then minimize it, my game freezes...beautiful, isn't it? I"m assuming you'll want my DXDiagnostic, too?

Well, I won't say goodbye, because, that'd be too depressing, besides, I don't think I'll be gone forever. However, this game just...no longer appeals to me anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love the gameplay, I love everything about MxO, just...after 2 -- nearing 2 and a half years...it does die out in my eyes. I begin my break now; you may see me enter a live event if it's really important, but, beyond that, this is a hopefully temporary goodbye from the Dezreki.

Who else bought it? So far I'm lovin' the CD, it's completely changed the style of the original Linkin Park and really has intrigued me. Forget Hybrid Theory, forget Meteora, the revolution is found in Minutes to Midnight.

Dezreki sat in his quarters, looking over EPN documents while he constantly worried about the pursuing EPN fleets. Dezreki was looking for more information on Blackwood; more information on how to get Vanil out. He began to browse through the printed copies of stolen information form Opus Neo's database. He came across an investigational report regarding Blackwood that was dated last year. There was very little information, however, it stated that an EPN file of all Blackwood data was in a data disk in a file cabinet located in a an EPN-guarded base in Moriah.

Dezreki wrote down the coordinates of the base and stood up; he then heard his door opening. Dezreki turned and saw Chemuel walk in slowly. She walked up to the Commander and looked up at him.

"So, Dezzie, what are you doing in here? You do realize we probably have a whole force of EPN ships following us right now, don't you?"

"This...is my room; you can't just walk in here."

"Aw, why not?" Chemuel questioned while stretching.

"Because I...Never mind." Dezreki said and he walked out of the captain's quarters and into the Operations Room. He handed Roman the coordinates that he had written down.

"Set my waypoint here," Dezreki demanded as he walked to his chair, only to be stopped by Chemuel.

"I'm coming with, Dezzie," Chemuel said with a smile on her face.

"No, too dangerous. Besides, it's an EPN guarded compound, I'm a factional division leader, I can get in."

"Can you?" Chemuel asked with a slight smirk on her face as she walked up to him, staring the Commander in the eyes as she lightly bit her lower lip. "You are ‘Dezreki,' they won't let you in without a fight."

"Then I guess we're giving them a fight."

Moriah Projects

2150 Hours

EPN Compound

Dezreki stood outside the building - it was one of Moriah's taller apartment complexes. He checked his equipment before moving on. He had two FM-1100 Magnums and two FM11-SKs in his trench coat in addition to a Dhanna Nuvolo around his back. He then checked his communication through his earpiece.

"Chemuel, can you hear me? Is the rooftop secure?"

"Yes and yes."

"Alright, I'm going in."

Dezreki opened up the door and walked into the building. He made his way to the elevator and pressed the "7" button on the elevator panel. The seventh floor was the EPN base. As Dezreki checked his equipment one last time, he pressed a discreet distress signal from his RSI that was programmed into his earpiece. It allowed any of Dezreki's programmed contacts to identify his location, just in case something bad was to happen.

The elevator doors slid open and an EPN Crusader stood in front of the open doorway.

"Ex-Tactical Advisor Dezreki, you are not cleared for entry here. Please leave now."

"No. I need information about Blackwood that we have here."

The EPN Crusader drew a pistol and pointed it at the Commander. "Sir, you need to leave now. I will alert Liaison Officer Zeissman if you-"

Before the EPN Crusader could finish, Dezreki ripped the pistol out of his hand, punched him in the face, causing the simulated bones all across the face to break. He then grabbed his shotgun and rammed it into the Crusader's mouth, breaking teeth upon entry.

"Yeah, alert Zeissman of this." Dezreki said, then pulled the trigger, causing simulated brains of the Crusader to land on the ground behind him. Dezreki slowly moved the shotgun out of the operative and looked at the other Crusader, staring in horror. Dezreki payed no attention, nor any care, and he used his recently acquired pistol to shoot the operative several times and watched as he fell to the ground.

"Chemuel, I'm in!" Dezreki yelled to alert Chemuel through the earpiece.

"Got it, Dez, those detonation packs are set, by the way, I'm getting out of here and back on the ship, alright?"

"Yeah." Dezreki then killed the communication through his earpiece and took out his two pistols before walking into the main hallway. Suddenly, EPN Crusaders ran out of the room furthest Dezreki and pointed assault rifles at Dezreki.

"Freeze, Commander! Now!" The leader of the group yelled.

Dezreki only smiled and whispered in his mind, "Showtime, V."

Vanil took over and bolted at a very high speed towards the EPN Operatives. They all began to fire their assault rifles simultaneously at the quickly-moving target; however, none of their bullets seemed to have an effect on the Exile. He simply smiled as he made his way towards the soon-to-be-dead operatives.

When Vanil reached the other side of the room, Dezreki took back over and spun around, firing his pistols as he moved and laughing manically as he caused the Crusaders' bodies to drop quicker than anyone could have imagined, even Dezreki himself.

Suddenly, Dezreki felt a pistol pointed behind his head, but, that didn't stop him. It seemed that nothing would stop Dezreki at this point. Dezreki swiftly touched the ground, spinning his legs around to trip the Crusader behind him. As the Crusader fell, Dezreki reached for his shotgun and slammed it through the EPN's chest. There was no need to fire a shell at this point, the man was already dead. However, it seemed as though Dezreki had lost as sense of humanity and fired through the operatives already-open chest, causing blood to fill the room as well as Dezreki's clothing.

As he stood back up, he saw three more EPN Crusaders running towards him. They were martial artists, he sensed, due to their lack of firearms. Dezreki only stood there as the operatives ran towards him. He smiled softly and slowly took out his submachine guns. The first operative ran up to Dezreki and sent a punch towards Dezreki's face. The Commander only moved his head slightly to the side and slammed his SMG into the Crusader's face, followed by an array of bullets going through the man's head.

Dezreki dropped his SMGs as the other two Crusaders ran up to him, only to fall to the ground as their necks were suddenly slit from switchblades that were suddenly drawn from Dezreki's trench coat. The E Pluribus Neo operatives first landed on their knees and then fell face-first on the ground as a puddle of blood surrounded their face. Dezreki smirked slightly as he put the switchblades back in his trench coat.

He looked around once more; it was silent. Dezreki then walked into the main database room where a file cabinet was located. As he opened the file cabinet, Dezreki saw the data disk he had come for and quickly grabbed it and put it away in his trench coat. However, reinforcements just arrived.

A swarm of EPN Crusaders positioned themselves in front of Dezreki, each armed with a powerful assault rifle. They looked at his carefully, and their captain spoke up.

"Commander, we are taking you in now. Liaison Zeissman will be glad to hear that we finally took you down from obstructing any more of E Pluribus Neo's operations.

Dezreki smiled and slipped his hand in his pocket. "Yeah, I bet he will." With a flick of a switch, Dezreki detonated the kits that Chemuel had placed earlier and brought part of the building down on the E Pluribus Neo Crusaders in front of him. As he smiled that arrogant smile of his, Dezreki hyper-jumped straight up through the hole that the detonation packs made, leading to the roof, however, he was not alone when he landed.

A large task force of around fifty SWAT team members surrounded Dezreki as he landed and ordered him to get on the ground. However, Dezreki saw something very strange in the distance. A helicopter was headed straight towards the SWAT team, firing as it moved.

The SWAT team changed their focus on the helicopter that was headed in their direction. Dezreki already knew what was going on, however, and hyper-jumped towards the helicopter, grabbing on the bottom of it and laughing manically as it flew away. He eventually pulled himself back into the helicopter and sat on the seat next to the pilot: Ekizeba.

Dezreki looked at his wife and smiled. "So, you got the call?

"Of course, love. And you know I wouldn't miss something like that for the world."

"Alright, we have to get out of here, though, quickly. I don't doubt I'm going to have problems in the Real...real soon."

Well, after a lengthy and intriguing conversation with a few members of our community following the Virginia Tech Memorial Service tonight, I began to realize something. The members of this community really are deep, we can really relate, and we can really have intelligent conversations around here.

So, I came to the conclusion that I should attempt to hold weekly nights where a bunch of the community just sits down and has a talk about a certain topic. This topic will be different each week and it will be entirely out of character, so come in, knowing that you can be yourself around other people.

Our first topic will be derived from a movie I had really taken the time to sit down and watch fairly recently: A Time to Kill. Is there truly a time to kill? When is it justified? Why would you believe it be tolerable to take another's life?

Our first conference will be at 5PM MCT, 8PM EST in the Camon Central Church on the 28th, a Saturday. I look forward to seeing how many would come and attend to talk about Life, The Universe, and everything in between. SMILEY

He sat in his office in Midian Park alone. There was nobody for him to talk to now; nobody there for him to hold onto and look at just to smile. Dezreki only stared at the ground and held a pistol in one hand. He removed the magazine and reinserted it and cocked the gun back; he repeated this motion many times, unaware of what he was doing. He only had his mind set on one thing and one thing only: Ekizeba.

He couldn't understand why; he couldn't understand how. All that mattered to him is that it happened. As much as he tried to tell himself that, though, he couldn't help but ask the question "what did I do?" It was a question that ran through his head multiple times - he knew that there had to have been a reason; there had to have been a purpose; there had to have been something he had done wrong to prompt this.

As he sat in his office, silent, he booted up his computer with an EPN roster he kept updated constantly with information regarding operatives. This link was dispatched to all EPN Officers and Faction Leaders. He brought up the file of his wife - if that is what she still was - and began to look at it.

That was protocol for a Commander to do, enter a status as Traitor for a rogue operative. While his instincts and his training said "Traitor," Dezreki's heart, if anyone suspected such a thing, only seemed to say one thing: Sadness.

Anyone else get this forum bug? Before I logged in, when I came to this page I see in a HUGE letters on the top:

"YOU HAVE BEEN BANNED"

I just sat there for a sec thinkin' "What just happened?! What did I do?!"

Took the time to frantically log on, and the message is gone.

Just was wonderin' if anyone else got this error before they logged in. o.o

Well, due in part to my new rank in E Pluribus Neo as well as me being bored with my current sig, I'd like to request a new sig that meets the following criteria.

-Has Dezreki on the sig
-Has "EPN Tactical Advisor on the sig

Other than that, just some nice creativity would be nice to see. Add some cool effects and whatnot. (I'd personally like to see some bullets coming towards Dezreki, but, hey, whatever you wanna work with would be great. SMILEY

Well, I originally posted this idea on the General Discussion boards when the topic of the Announcement came around. A few people liked my idea so, I decided, hey, I'll post it up in here, and try to rally support and hopefully Walrus or Rarebit or someone will change it to this format. So, for those of you who did not read my idea in the General Discussion post:

We all see the banner on the top with "The
Matrix Online" and the guy throwin 'a punch at the girl. Now, how about
if these things are going to be regular...we keep the left side the
same with The Matrix Online, and keep a picture on the right hand side
of that banner with a picture like that that gives the title for the
chapter?

Dezreki stood in Camon Height’s local church, facing the altar. He had been disheartened lately by the loss of lives in the E Pluribus Neo organization – as well as the death of Shaun Bestron, one of the very few individuals Dezreki had chosen to awaken. He stood with his hands behind his back and with a solemn look on his face.


“Neo…”he spoke quietly to himself, “why does this happen? Is there a reason for this? No, there can’t be – this isn’t right, it’s not! I have to stop this, but how?”

Dezreki rarely felt remorse or concern for what happened to anyone outside of his own faction, however, these recent attacks were cutting deep into even the Field Commander. He was used to war, but, tactics like these struck fear into him. He knew his crew had been targeted; Festaneve didn’t seem like the kind of guy to joke around.

It wasn’t just the targeting, though, it was the deceitful warfare. Stromeson was a prime example. Dezreki felt pity for this man; he felt remorse for what things he claimed to have been through. However, all of it was a lie as he turned out to be just another one of what Dezreki was trying to eliminate.

Hey, I'm lookin' for any of you guys that'd be able to put a signiture together for my wonderful Ekizeba. I'd be willing to pay a nice amount of money to Recursion players as well for this.

Shimada, Michael, this is EPN Commander Dezreki of the Holy Warriors E Zion. I have found out who was behind the destruction of Hovercraft Copaxrus, and it was not our own! It was Viraconrida of the Cypherite organization! I have images after I trakced her down to the fight club where Neo was being displayed!

This is in dedication to the three murdered E Pluribus Neo operatives in the Matrix...Normoria...Hitchclip..and Natalos...each of which had their plugs pulled...
