Try this: Verify that you have sound enabled in The Matrix Online. Check volume knob and wiring connections. Verify that you have sound in other applications. Reduce DirectSound Hardware Acceleration To do so, follow these steps: Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type dxdiag, and then click OK. Click the Sound tab. Under DirectX Features, move the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level slider all the way to the left (the No acceleration setting). Click Exit, and then start the game If you can now hear the sounds as expected, repeat these steps and increase the hardware sound acceleration level setting one notch, and then try again. Update Sound Card Drivers Contact your sound card manufacturer to obtain the latest version of the driver for your sound card. Install the Latest Version of Microsoft DirectX To download and install the latest version of DirectX, visit the following Microsoft Web site: Microsoft Direct X download Hope that help

To continue with the rest of the good suggestion, you might want to try clean boot. Run clean boot and it will prompt you to close all of your background program and launch your game. To disable background programs: 1.Select the START button. 2.Select RUN. 3.Type in "msconfig" (without the " 4.Press OK 5.Select the STARTUP tab. 6.In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list. 7.Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again. Make sure you have DirectX 9 installed. - Continuing our efforts to keep pace with current technology, Matrix will be upgrading to DirectX9.0c (April 2006 version) to allow us to take advantage of many of the new features and fixes since our last upgrade in the middle of 2003. 1. Get the April 2006 DirectX 9.0c (April 2006) redistributable version (Caution: Download is about 52 MB) at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...;DisplayLang=en 2. Run directx_apr2006_redist.exe. Extract the files to an easily identifiable directory. (We suggest using C:\DIRECTX as the directory path.) 3. Go to the directory the files were extracted to in step 2. Run "DXSETUP.EXE" from that directory. Alternatively, if you used the example we provided in step 2, then you can just go to the Start menu and click on Run, then enter in c:\directx\dxsetup and then click OK. 4. Accept the license agreement. Allow the installer to update the DirectX components.
