I've been reading all of the guides I can find on sites such as gamergod and stratics but I've still got a few questions I'd like to get some opinions on. I just started playing and literally only have a few hours under my belt. Till now I've only run the critical missions from the starting contact with some random street sweeping thrown in to complete a couple of collections.
I'm only at level 6 but I want to make sure I'm taking the right track on this. So far my goal has been to get my skills/abilities for one line only so that I get the biggest impact for the $info spent. I haven't purchased any weapons, clothings, or items, only skills. I'm not planning on dabbling and I've only purchased skills that were essential to getting me to soldier level. In soldier I currently have Toughness, Firearms Skill, Martial Arts Skill, Sharp Shooter, and Multi-Fighting. All of the skills I can level are current and now I'm completely tapped out on cash.
What I'm wondering is should I only focus on MA of Firearms at this point or do I have to go down both lines to progress to either MA Initiate or Gunman? Also, is it pretty normal to be broke at this point or did I purchase too many varying skills? (the only thing in operative I didn't get was locate data node and I haven't purchased any additional awakened skills)
I'd also like to get some opinions on the various paths you can take. I watched a decent sized brawl last night where a dozen or more Merovingians popped into a crowd of Zionists and started going to town. What I noticed was that it seemed the majority of combatants were hackers. I hardly saw any melee'ers and just a few gunmen. Was this just random or is this fairly indicative of the spread of classes? I've been able to find lots of guides for the phage and arbalest type characters but nothing really for the soldier lines. It also seems that whenever I see a post about some fantastic player they're either a hacker or a knife thrower. Are the soldier subclasses still effective later on or do they seem to fall behind others?
Also, for those who've played further on into the soldier line, what are some pros and cons you've seen to gunmen versus MA. I still haven't decided which skill I'd rather pursue at this point.
Thanks for any input that you may give.
