I think you have to suicide out of the tutorial. Clicking "Skip Tutorial" automatically completes the mission contained therein and levels you to 2.

As far as player characters being exiles, well, this question is close to my heart. I played an exile for a long time that was, in my opinion, quite well received by the community. I'm not sure its fair to say that a PC can't be an exile. Perhaps the devs never considered that players would want to be anything other than human, so they didn't take the time to create a game entrance/tutorial that plays to their side. I think if its done right, there's not problem with it.

Is it canon? Tough to say. Are any of our individual Human characters actually in the canon? Will we see the guy who killed the Assassin in The Matrix IV: Resurrection? Probably not... So, I say, while we have the world of the Matrix in our hands... WE write the canon.

It was a lot of fun. Quite a bit of side betting going on. Yup, the Handgun Sims seem to be a bit more adept at using specials. Since the Sims were fighting without player intervention, its hard to say how good they were at putting their opponents into states, but it was a good learning experience!

Its nice to see that people are actually running the Proxy Trees now. I've seen a few here and there, but felt like I was the only fool on the server who'd bothered to level both Proxy and Utility Master trees completely...

The Children of the Code has just commissioned its fourth crew on board the Hovercraft Immortalis, Captained by CrossTerminal and Malecia. We have 10 new berths ready for 10 new operatives. Will you answer the call of the Code?

Lady3Jane shot out of her chair and bounded loudly across the cold metal deck of the Straylight. She pulled up behind the freeborn operators Gabe and Bronco, sitting side by side at the ships twin operator console. The two of them pounded away furiously at the keyboards while staring desperately at the screens surrounding them. Lady3Jane leaned heavily on the back of their seats.

“What happened?” she asked.

Neither operator broke stride as Bronco answered. “We dunno. He got taken down by one of those Merovingian operatives. I fired his EJP and he just disappeared.”

“Disappeared? How does he just disappear?”

“I’m sorry LJ, but if we knew that we wouldn’t be having this problem.”

"Was there anything inconsistent in his code when you popped the EJP?"

Gabe quickly pulled up the system log and scanned Asamodai's code signature from just before the jackout procedure.

"He had something on him! There! You can see it, that extra string." shouted Gabe.

"Well, what is it?"

"I'm not sure, but it wasn't on his RSI when he jacked in."

"Figure it out. Fast."

Lady3Jane pushed off the chairs raising her hands to her head and stifling a frustrated scream. She slowly walked back down to where her Lieutenant was laid out, jacked into the Matrix. Some of the other crewmen started filing in, alerted by the commotion.

“What happened?” Terracus asked.

Lady3Jane leaned on her forearms on the edge of Asamodai’s chair. “We don’t know.” she sighed heavily. “Asa was taken out by a couple of Merovingian operatives. When Bronco fired his EJP we lost track of him. He never woke up.”

“He’s alive right?” Reisei asked.

Lady3Jane walked around to the other side of the chair and turned the monitor to get a better view.

“Yeah. His vitals are little weaker than normal but they seem stable.” he turned back to the others. “Keep an eye on him.”

The others nodded in silent agreement as the Captain continued.

“We’re going to find out what happened and we’re gonna get him back. You can count on that.”

The Children of the Code has just reached full capacity in its three existing crews, but we're not stopping there. The commission of a new crew is due any day and we're still looking for dedicated operatives to join us in helping to protect the truce, and by extension, humanity. Who among you will step forward and give yourself to the Code?

Mine was with Morpheus. I got a message from him out of the blue asking me to assemble my faction for a meeting. That was the first time I felt totally immersed in the world of the Matrix. We picked an isolated rooftop in Dannah for our meeting. We probably had 10 to 15 members there and sure enough... BAM... Morpheus lands on the roof in perfect form. He spoke with us for a bit, shook some hands, and leapt off to who knows where. I've probably got the screenshots around somewhere.
