Hello Everybody,

Today we'll be unlocking the Public Test Server so that players can test out the new Metagames, please keep in mind that the Metagames are not finished but we would like to hear about any bugs you may find or feedback that you have.  Please post any Bugs/Feedback in this thread, we'll be checking back on a regular basis so that we can get things working correctly.

Once you login to the Public Test Server you can use SHIFT-Z to access the Metagames window, now since this is a test server we are limited to about 5 or 6 simultaneous instances running so we do ask that if you get as many people into each instance as possible so that everybody has a chance to try them out.

Playtest Information

CANCELLED.  SERVER IS UNAVAILABLE.

Instructions for accessing the Public Test Server can be found here.

Okay.. What's a metagame?

Edit: Forget that. What the fck with instances? I don't want Planetside to be turned into another one of those crappy games where you join a lobby and wait until enough people join.

The reason I play a six year old game with dated graphics and filled with bugs and exploits is because of the massive world and the gameplay. If I wanted to play a new game with shiny graphics and less bugs, I'd go play Global Agenda.

Don't fcking ruin this for me.

So... wait, wait. Let me get this straight.

First they tried to turn Planetside into a "mainstream" generic shooter, and the entire game pretty much bombed.

Now (fives years after Ground Zero) they're trying to turn it into a "mainstream" ...instances, what, a WoW hybrid rip?

How many times do you have to destroy the game's own originality (I'll give you a clue: the one time you did and it failed) in attempting to emulate something it isn't, before you get it through your heads that maybe it's unique and you should maybe try to cater to and expand on that?

I agree! We play this game for the fun of seeing all the planets, and taking them as best we can. Instance versions of this game would suck!

Should run the instances as "events" as not to ruin the main game by taking people away. They would only take people away once a week or something.

Try to think of reasoning they aren't going to go "damn, these players don't like instances! We should throw this idea away." I just want to know what a metagame is... Battledome, etc.?

ANYTHING THAT TAKES PLAYERS OUT OF THE GAME IS A BAD IDEA.

Are you talking about instances of the PlanetSide battlefield with different rule sets or are you talking about being able to play a game of poker /texas hold em with your team mates while a hack goes through?

You can run the patcher for test server now and get:

[18:03:03] Patcher: Downloading lvl_max_factory_resources.pak

So that seems to be the answer.

I'd give you a fresh idea: if you've started somthing- you finish it first, than you can start something else. Like if you started tuning lasher, you fix it first and after that your new staff will be welcome by PS community. Simple as that.

**cough**MERGE**cough** , you tell us youre gonna merge the servers then do nothing or give us no updates

So you started the idea of the max factory what over a year ago ? and yet its still only in its begining stages of testing , so we'll have the merge in what 2011 sometime , looks like after 6 years i may actualy unsub to PS if this is the sort of service we are now gonna get

As always, you dear devs only cling to those things that have been rejected by the whole community (i.e. the instancing part, for proof see the ancient thread about it). Wasp history all over again. Oh I even remember my brief flash of optimism when this got announced, that perhaps it's finally the "what caves should have been" update, but man was I so wrong.

Also, fix the Lasher first.

As for this test of a feature nobody wanted, you can shove it you know where.
