Yeah we use it on Chilastra. The Rebels do it too. Typically, organized groups use the /assist command. It's a part of this thing they call "good strategy." lol

LOL... I was so P.O.ed at this I reposted it on the GDP saying I was ashamed and embarassed.
I mean the gaul and ignorance of it... sheeesh!
Mod 001's earning his pay though, locked in mins.
Wow, just noticed my Rant response here was outright deleted. I treid to keep it... well, impersonal.
If you think Assist is an Exploit, please.
<---- SS
I lol'd btw.
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG GUIZ
I LOLED
./assist is not an exploit, but the way that 8 people use it as a macro, I think is.
Every single person can disagree with me, that is fine. It seems I'm very obviously the minority in liking to play the game myself, and not macro my computer to do it for me.
I also see my error in thinking that actual peoples skills would be more fun in pvp then whos macro will outdo someone elses macro. I'm very obviously the only person on SWG who doesn't macro everything to be done for me. I'm a little confused to why that's such a bad thing. Then again that's what I get for playing a mmorpg for seven years that doesn't use macros.. just can't get my head around them.

The only assist macro that is worth using is
/assist Player Name
And then you bind it to a key. I would NEVER loop it.
Assisting is not cheating nor is it unfair. Its a fast way to find the same target.
Btw when we farmed you today in the Battle grounds we didnt even use assist
Here's a game play hint: I believe everyone I know that uses an assist macro has it bound to a key on their keyboard. That way, when your group leader calls for an assist, you can hit said key and assist in the attack. When the leader is not calling a target for an assist, you can then attack the taget of you choosing.
Therefore, the game isn't "playing for you", you are assisting the leader who has assessed a threat or weak target for destruction. If you ran an assist macro that did all the targeting for you you wouldn't be much help to your team.
Assisting can be done even without a macro.......all I would need to do is hit my key for "target group member x", have the assist command in my hotbar, and then hit that key. I don't think the .5 sec difference between hitting 1 key and 2 keys would make any difference in your case.

Obviously can't get my head around macros as I don't have anything binded to my keys, don't know how to do that even... guess only the old mmorpg farts like myself are just stuck on cycling targets.
