I originally posted this on my server's forum, but I wanted to open it up to other server's Mandos:
What part of the Resol'Nare is more important, or heavier influence, on your character's life and motivation? For those not fully familiar with the Resol'Nare: http://www.fandalorian.com/Mando/RP...and_die_by.htmlBut tsk tsk if you are not familiar with the Resol'Nare and you claim to do Mando RP.
I'm looking for what aspects of the Resol'Nare your character finds important, not an explination on every one of the Resol'Nare tenents. While they are all important, and all should be followed to be proper Mando, one is going to be more important than the other to a RP character and plots. I'll use me as an example:
Ke'ba'juri sa Mando'ade (Raise children as Mandalorians) was vital, but it's my failure at K'ara'novo aliit (Defend the family) that drives me. In my character's background, his wife and child were killed. So while death is an accepted and not dreaded aspect in Mando culture, my failure of protecting my wife and child pushes my character and his plots forward.
So let's hear your driving influences.
My daughter.
Resol'nare Intagrated in game and guild: I will defend myself and my family. PVP/PVE with guild members. All my children will be raised as Mandalorians. Train alts as Mandalorians. I will take pride in wearing clothing that represents my Mandalorian status. Dress the part of a Mandalorian, not strict Mandalorian armor but as an honorable warrior would. I will speak Mando'a to other Mandalorians. Members should have a basic use of Mando’a. I will help my aliit to succeed and sustain itself. Contribute to advance and maintain the guild. I will answer the call of Mand'alor. Verd’goten, First guild war as part of the guild.

Helping the Clan to move forward, and to prosper is what moves me. Without my Clan, I would be nothing but a lone warrior. I honor my Family, and I will defend them always.
Without Honor and Family, a Mando'ad is nothing.

Wow, thanks for completely ignoring what is asked in the thread. I even specifically asked not to post something like this. I asked you a CHARACTER RP question, not a game mechanic translation.

you know your not your own kid
The parts of Resol'Nare thats pushes me forward has to be #5. I will help my aliit to succeed and sustain itself, and # 1. I
willdefend myself and my family. Because i am always helping people try to get better at the things they love to do and i
am always looking out for people, making sure they dont get into deep trouble and etc, if someone says trash or tries to
start fights, ill defend my brothers, my friends and my comrades, as they are all good to me
The clan for sure, we base a lot of the RP around the clan. It felt more natural for the characters to cherish that.

by its nature isnt each and every rule of the resol'nare just as important as the other ones?

As a human being, you make priorities in you life. Something is going to take a more dominate role. It does not mean that the other rules are ignored, it just means that one or two things have a slightly greater value than the other in that person's mind.
Take the other posts as example. Vinzer says his daughter is top on that list. He is not saying he is ignoring Ke'gaa'tayli aliit bralir or Ke'jorhaa'i Mando'a, he is just saying, out of the Resol'Nare that Ke'ba'juri sa Mando'ade and/or K'ara'novo aliit is top of the list in his Character's mind.
To take a real life example, have you ever seen someone just go nuts over something like a kid getting caught Shoplifting? They want to throw the Book of Law and more at that person, while others might go "Well, it's just a kid. So fine the kid and move on." Shoplifting is clearly illegal and both sides want to see justice done, but obviously one person is more hell bent on it than the other. Obviously, theft is a more important issue for the one person than the other. The other person probably has a similar reaction to murder or traitors or parking in a handicap zone when your not handicapped. Things/issues have different values to people.
Does that make sense?

i think people get what you saying but there is no need for you to becomming off so harsh man.
cant take this game or any of this stuff to seriously its all just for fun and when you get worked up over it you ruin the whole point of it being fun. I understand it annoys you that someone failed to do what you ask but no need to be harsh man maybe to him all of them are rated on the same level and darin cant possibly find one more important over each other.
As for me i dont see speaking mando'a is important at all really i used to know it like 2 years ago but its not needed for me any more and only has its purpose for certain points and time.
The one i see most important is Ke'ba'juri sa Mando'ade, for me atlest since where would any of us or any other type of person out side mandalorian culture be without first some one being introduced to it first.
Stop looking at my daughter.

If I was being harsh, I would have been much more brutal. Did I start out peeved? Sure. Like you said, it's frustrating when people don't read the post before throwing their two cents out there. But I honestly wrote, out side the first line, as to be helpful and to clarify.
Thanks for your post on what your character is influenced by. How does you, or your aliit, introduce or "raise" new members into the aliit? Is it all RP? Do you just have a trial? Some other method? Just curious on what your group does.

I do not have a aliit really not for a year or 2 now since my server died and well you just cant keep a guild going without new members while others quit over long periods of time due to lack of server pop even though alot said the aliit was the only thing keeping them around for a longer time they had even planed to at the rate the server was looking.
Any way to answer your question. We would first find new members and just let them start off fresh un-guilded to see how we would operate to the best we could on following the true mandalorian way (as in honor not credits kinda deal) ya know that whole bit, over time everyone started to learn right then and there i would think. But even before that we would make sure they know a hint of the mandalorian life before joining it and if they would have the wrong idea or impression we would correct them but only to the point where they would need to fully understand better by searching the rest of it for them self, it was never nothing to tricky though so everyone for what ever they did not understand got it right away and started to grow from there. So over time we all gained a better understanding of the culture not by just simply RP and researching it but also through means of PVP, PVE, event and such. As a person who has not really suffered but has gone through life with some small learning disabilities (dyslexia) I have learned the best way to learn some thing is to accually do it rather just hear about it or read about it. So to me i feel the best way to help people have a better understanding is to get out their and get stuff done like PvP and PvE and i would say it worked atlest i hope it did.
Before all this where we helped our new members we would first learn it all our selfs and over a year while it was around we learned even more then we expected to from the start. For example most of us were honestly nothing but full time PVPers and some PvE here and there so we knew a fair deal of combat mechanics which we used to help each other and members fight better. But what we were knew was to this whole RP thing so we started to learn and over time i would think we got fairly good at it.
All and all it was not just the clans leaders that helped "raise" the new members but the new members helped raise the leaders to be better at what they must do so we all learned from each other. I still think the same method applies still the same now and in more aspects then just mandalorian RP.
as of now though i no longer RP and have drifted back to PvP full time and when i dont do that its some form of PVE but i am still a die hard mandalorian fan as i guess you can tell from sig and avatar and i even am still so full hearted about mandalorians that i have spent the last 5 months or so now constructing a guild hall into a decorated mandalorian like military base kinda deal. Which i hope to finish soon and be able to share with this forum and register it to the Galactic Showcase.
